Forum for any and all discussions about the upcoming nurse transition program selection board for the USAF in 2012

Hello

I just came across this board, very good info on this board and I wish all of you good luck. So I have a question, will the air force even consider me if I have a BS degree in business and an associates in nursing or do I have to have the BSN? And what are the age limits?

Thanks for sharing about the FB page.

The CN interview went great! It was very laid back and felt more like a conversation if anything. He asked me general questions about moving, why I want the AF, and some of those questions led off into in depth conversation. He asked about my resume and letters of recommendation (like how I knew them and questioned about some things they put in the letter). Other than that just be confident of yourself. The CNs are probably very passionate about their jobs which is why they are put in that position!

Also, I was only able to get 3/4 1373's when we sent it to quality control and they said I didn't need another one (lets hope that's a good sign of awesome letters!). I hope they don't think my application is incomplete at the boards though because of it...I am a big worry wart!

I "heard" they prefer 1373's that have a rating of 3 or higher. I'm sure your LOR/1373's are

just fine!

BSN is required...no other BS degree will be considered for application to the nurse corps. I also hold a previous BS degree...in Professional Aeronautics...its of absolutely no value to the nurse corps boards. Bummer but it makes sense. The commissioning age cap is 42 for nurses. Good luck on whatever you decide :)

Thank you LN75 for answering my two questions, going to re-evaluate what I want to do, but its nice to know the age limit is 42, since I am 32, but for me to go for my BSN when I want to be an ANP really makes no sense $ wise, when I can do a bridge program. Been talking to a national guard (Army) recruiter ( who is a friend ) so I trust that he isn't feeding me any BS. Maybe Ill also talk to an air guard recruiter and see if there are any options there. Good luck and I hope you all find out sooner then later, the wait must me torture. I just took my boards today and it is driving me crazy that I have to wait 48 hours to find out!!!!

What I mean was I had 4 letters of R. that I turned in but only 3 had 1373's attached. Quality control said I didn't need to have another which I am hoping means the 4th letter is sufficient, but am still jittery about it because the boards might view the application as incomplete or something! I am sure if quality control didn't mention it, then it should be ok. I also have the minimum amount of letters with the 1373s.

I'm sure you are good to go on the 1373's! These next few weeks of waiting are really not going to be fun

Happy 4th ya'll!!!

I, also, sent in my packet for the July board... this waiting game is NO fun!

Welcome to the forum! Yeah...looks like the end of August. When I was active duty I applied for a commission through OTS and the results weren't released until a few weeks after the board had closed. Who knows...NTP could be different, but I kinda doubt it :(. My recruiter says we should know by the end of aug or early sep. trying to bury myself in work and whatever else I can till then to make the time go by faster haha! :)

I was told they announce selections on August 10th.

I was told August 10th as well...although my recruiter was sure to mention that it sometimes takes longer than they expect, so it could very well be the end of August/early September before we hear anything.

One more month today! My recruiter said the same thing as yours UCAFblue. He said they know the results on July 24/25 whenever they meet, and give how many were selected/how many applied (which could be nerve wracking in itself!) then it has to go through an approval process which could take a little bit!
