I had my interview with the CN and it went pretty well. Our first choice for duty station is Alaska and the CN said he'd look us up when he retires to Alaska in two years....I'm hoping this means he recommended me for selection. Now to wait 6 weeks....I asked my recruiter how many applicants there were this year but he said he didn't want to tell me....it wouldn't change anything. This waiting will not be fun!

Did everyone else hear August 10th as the day we should find out?

From what I was told by my recruiter:

They pick out who they want the day the boards meet. They then release information on how many they selected and how many total applicants. So we are either a yay or nay on that very day! After that our applications go up through the chain and those people review it and might say no, but I guess that rarely happens.

He said tentative date is early August but reality date is probably the end of August or early September. I would be banking on the end of August/early september since it IS the government and also there is an election coming up which might very well postpone results or MAY quicken them up! Who knows =p.

I feel like I am waiting on my application for nursing school again (mine was competitive and they had delayed the results so I was about dying lol)!

Does anyone know average GPA/credentials/LOR that were selected from the past groups? Were more new graduated RN's chosen over those still in school? I would hope they wouldn't considering they let you apply within 1 year of graduating, what would be the point then?

This is going to be a long couple of months!

I haven't been able to find any concrete information. There is an Air Force Nurse Corps facebook page. There have been a few people on that page I have seen who were accepted last year and have just graduated. That gives me hope!!

This is like applying for nursing school all over again! The competition to be accepted in an accredited program is just as intense as the Air Force application process!
I am hoping that my LOR help my packet.

AFhopeful, how was your CN interview?

Thanks for sharing about the FB page.

The CN interview went great! It was very laid back and felt more like a conversation if anything. He asked me general questions about moving, why I want the AF, and some of those questions led off into in depth conversation. He asked about my resume and letters of recommendation (like how I knew them and questioned about some things they put in the letter). Other than that just be confident of yourself. The CNs are probably very passionate about their jobs which is why they are put in that position!

Also, I was only able to get 3/4 1373's when we sent it to quality control and they said I didn't need another one (lets hope that's a good sign of awesome letters!). I hope they don't think my application is incomplete at the boards though because of it...I am a big worry wart!

    Hello
I just came across this board, very good info on this board and I wish all of you good luck. So I have a question, will the air force even consider me if I have a BS degree in business and an associates in nursing or do I have to have the BSN? And what are the age limits?

I "heard" they prefer 1373's that have a rating of 3 or higher. I'm sure your LOR/1373's are
    just fine!

BSN is required...no other BS degree will be considered for application to the nurse corps. I also hold a previous BS degree...in Professional Aeronautics...its of absolutely no value to the nurse corps boards. Bummer but it makes sense. The commissioning age cap is 42 for nurses. Good luck on whatever you decide

Thank you LN75 for answering my two questions, going to re-evaluate what I want to do, but its nice to know the age limit is 42, since I am 32, but for me to go for my BSN when I want to be an ANP really makes no sense $ wise, when I can do a bridge program. Been talking to a national guard (Army) recruiter ( who is a friend ) so I trust that he isn't feeding me any BS. Maybe Ill also talk to an air guard recruiter and see if there are any options there. Good luck and I hope you all find out sooner then later, the wait must me torture. I just took my boards today and it is driving me crazy that I have to wait 48 hours to find out!!!!

What I mean was I had 4 letters of R. that I turned in but only 3 had 1373's attached. Quality control said I didn't need to have another which I am hoping means the 4th letter is sufficient, but am still jittery about it because the boards might view the application as incomplete or something! I am sure if quality control didn't mention it, then it should be ok. I also have the minimum amount of letters with the 1373s.

I'm sure you are good to go on the 1373's! These next few weeks of waiting are really not going to be fun
