Is there an Air Force Reserve Medical Unit at Langley AFB? A few years back, someone told me there was a Medical Unit opening at Langley but I'm unable to find any information on it. I know there has to be quite a few medical people in the Air Force Reserves that live in the Hampton Roads area... where do those people drill? I'm looking to move to that area within the next year and was wondering. I guess I can always call the base!!!! Any input is greatly appreciated

AndyRN,

I live about one hr south of Langly (elizabeth city, NC) and I will have to go to Pope AFB for flight nursing (3 hour drive for me). I'm still waiting for that to start, will hear hopefully this month:) I tried to go in active duty, but did not get that this past fall. I was resubmitted for this June's boards and have heard nothing. I have been told active slots are limited and am not surprised. I have chosen reserves for the flight nursing since there are definate spots for me:)

I do know that Pope has a big medical clinic, too. There is a hospital on Langly for Active Duty RN's, That's about the limit of my knowledge at this stage...the hampton area has a HUGE Navy population/ bases. I have gone to Langly and it's not as big as those other bases. It's an awesome area and that was my hope, too. Are you already in the Reserves or are looking to get in? Either way...good luck!

Thanks for responding. I am in the Reserves; have been for 13 1/2 years. I received my commission in May 2010 and just completed RCOT this past April. I love the Hampton Roads area. My husband and I are planning to move out there in a year. I'm just looking to see what's there. I called a recruiter today to see if he could answer my question but I got no answer. If I find out anything I'll let you know.

Good Luck to you too. I'm sure you'll receive some positive news soon. You'll love it at least I do.

Good luck to you, too! I'm sure I'll love it:) I'm sooo looking forward to getting in/ started. I hope you're right about receiving possitive news soon! I believe you're right! I got an email stating I'm OK to receive the sign on bonus, so looks like it won't be too long now...cross your fingers!

Did a little research last night and there is a Medical Unit at Langley but I'm not sure if they have Flight Nurse positions. I'm going to try and find a number for them and give them a call.

You can give it a shot ;), but I've been told there are only 4 locations with flight nurse units and Pope is the only one close. Let me know what you find out:) You know how recruiters can be...they will promise you anything...to find out it's not quite what you thought :jester: ...lol....:D
