hello everyone,

got a question. when applying for the 2012 nurse corp selection boards, are all the applicants all over the country competing with eachother or do you compete with just your region? i was told there were only 22 slots and if we are competing with the whole country-OMG! waiting on an answer sucks. my recruiter has a back up plan for me if i dont get picked the first time for the med/surg but hopefully I do, and good luck to everyone else as well. talk to you all soon.

I will be going to COT on May 29th, I will probably have my uniforms by that time. I will let you all know the $$$$$.

Thanks RN4Life2! Time is quickly approaching for you. How do you feel? Are you pretty much being rushed to get everything done?

Hurry up and wait is the name of the game. I have been approved by congress for reserve officer but now I am waiting for them to approve me for active duty. In the meantime I am waiting for my recruter to get off convalescent leave so we can go to Maxwell and get my uniforms setup. I can't wait to get my orders but I have to wait till I get commissioned and that won't happen till congress approves me for active duty. Soooooooo........ I'm working on getting my psych cert. Got to do something.......

Ah, yes, the hurry up and wait game....well at least you are moving along though it may seem to be slowly but surely. That should be exciting going to shop for all of your stuff :yeah:. Good luck on your psych cert! You'll have to keep us inform as you continue to move along. The end of May will be here before you know it!

Well, done waiting... I have been cleared though congress and my commissioning will be next week. I will be getting my uniforms setup beginning of the month. I also passed the psych cert today. It's been a good day! I hope all goes smooth for everyone.

CONGRATS RN4Life2 :w00t:. You have had a wonderful day! I did my fingerprinting today. The computer system was down so didn't get to finish everything for clearance.

ATLRN0828 and RN4Life2 congrats on getting accepted!!!! i'm hoping to get accepted in the NTP board meeting in July this year…can't stand waiting! :banghead: I got my BSN in Dec 2011 and have been working on a Tele unit since then. I have 10+ years prior active duty enlisted service in the AF and 3 years in the AF reserve. I'm really hoping that will benefit me in the board. Anyway, i'm loving this site and reading over all the posts and gleaning little tidbits from other's experiences. I "friended" both of you, so that i can PM you and pick your brains about COT and whatever else comes to mind after i get accepted. Looks like you'll be just a few classes ahead of me, so i'm sure you'll have some great current info to pass on! :)

Anyway, congrats again I'm happy for all of you who got accepted and reading all your posts gets me super excited for the NTP board. Hope we get to work together someday! Good luck…y'all are gonna LOVE the air force!

Thanks LN75, it will be great to get back to the AF family. I don't mind at all if you do some brain picking. It's good to be informed. With being prior-service I'm sure you will be a shoe-in. Just to clarify, are you still in the service (reserve) or prior-service? Ether way, talk to you soon.

so…i was active duty from 1997-2008, then got into nursing school in 2008 and separated from active duty and joined the reserve. how about you?

Active from 95- 2000 and loved it. Why I asked, I'm not sure if the prosses is different if you still in the active reserve. If so, I'll try to be as much help as I can with COT.

from what i can tell so far, the major difference between you and i is that you were accepted as a fully qualified RN, and i'm applying to the NTP board. near as i can tell, that means you'll go straight to work as an RN at your first duty station following COT. i on the other hand will go through the Nurse Transition Program for several weeks, then COT (or maybe the other way around??) and then on to my first duty station. will you be promoted to 1Lt or Capt after COT based on your years of RN experience?

Hey LN75,

I accepted the friend request as well. Good luck with your upcoming boards. Let us know how it goes. Oh, since you've been a nurse for a while why did you do the NTP boards instead of fully qualified (just asking because I don't know the requirements for the NTP board)? And I believe that you will go to COT first, the NTP training, then your first duty station (that's just what I gathered from reading other posts). Talk to ya soon! :)
