School Money for Military Spouses

I just found out about a new program for spouses courtesy of the Dept of Defense that I am in the process of utilizing and wanted to share with everyone...

Spouses of active duty service members (and activated reservists or guard) are now eligible for an educational grant up to $6,000 to train for "portable careers" that will assist them in maintaining a career through their spouses military PCS moves.

The program is called MyCAA, or My Career Advancement Account.

Nursing is one of these so-called "portable careers," along with a bunch of other career paths.

The process of getting approved for the money is very simple (I've already done it), and only took a couple weeks.

The program just launched in May 2009, so it's all relatively new. You can find out more info here:
https://aiportal.acc.af.mil/mycaa/default.aspx

I'm very excited to find out about it...this is something we military spouses have been hoping for for a long time!
