I figured the change to four years was for FY 2010.

The bonus always changes when you take loan repayment, and it should - if I get the loan repayment, they'll be giving me almost fifty grand (I owe about twenty grand in loans), and for some people the combined amount will be closer to sixty grand.

I'm interested in joining the AFas a nurse by direct commission, but I currently don't meet the weight standard. I was wondering can you submit the packet before you meet the weight standard, or do you have to wait until you meet the weight standard? I'm already a RN, and will finish my BSN on DEC 18th. Just wondering?

If you haven't yet started the process of applying, you have at least a month or two until you'll go to MEPs - so maybe it wouldn't be an issue by then?

NurseJessi, are you currently in community college or are you already transferred to a University? I was told to contact the Health Recruiter for the AF the last year of nursing. Right now I'm still waiting on Community College to accept me. My plans are to transfer to University of Phoenix for my BSN. I need to check if the AF would accept that. You all have given great information.

I actually have graduated with my BSN... just waiting to hear the good news (hopefully!) from my recruiter about going to COT (Officer training) in January. Unless you want to do ROTC, the time to contact the recruiter is definitely the last year of your nursing program. That way you can put your packet in ASAP after you graduate.
