by mebeafrn Jun 25, '0515 yrs. RN,BSN w/ANCC Board Cert in Psych/Mental Health-just saw the 1-May -05 change in age guidelines-now up to age 47. I was ready to be comissioned 15 yrs ago, death in fam changed plans..is it insanity to seek a comission at 44? The recruiter I've e-mailed with talks about entering as a Captain etc.... I've seen postings here that indicate AF is hard/slow to advance..share your knowledge please, those of you who live the life. Thx!

You have about the right amount of time to be a Major the only catch would be the majors board (there isn't one this year). I see nothing wrong with your age, but you need to ask about Conditional Reserve Status (CRS). You have to have CRS to be eligible for retirement if you won't be eligible for CRS I wouldn't go active duty.15 yrs. There are schools, promotions and job oppurtunities in the USAF you won't be eligible for without that CRS.
Good Luck!
