pass apft before obc

I found out from training NCO that I cant go to oblc until I pass the apft. I thought we got a diagnostic apft at obc and tried to pass it then and if not when your unit does their apft

That is true but remember: You must pass your weight (and tape, if needed) in order to receive your diploma upon graduation from OBLC. If you don't you will have 90 days to pass weight (and show proof). Without your OBLC diploma you will not be able to attend AT (if RC) or attend any short courses (AC)
Have fun at OBLC!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I've read of others' posts, it seems that for those in the Reserve components, it is your unit that determines when you get sent to OBLC. As such, if your Commander deems that you will pass the APFT before he/she will send you to school...so be it.

True but if you happen to take the Oath in May and there is a slot open for you in September you will have squeezed by in-between the bi-annual APFT which, at least in the northeast, is given in April and October so, in theory, one could go to OBLC and take just a diagnostic APFT and then eventually take a record APFT with your assigned unit/company after graduation from the course
