Hi there,

I've been a nurse since 2010 and graduated from University of Portland, Oregon. I worked in mental health and with the red cross for a year before applying for the Navy. 13 mos later I found myself at Officer Development School and graduated this February. I'm stationed at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth now and living in Norfolk. I wanted to offer myself as a resource to any of these topics since I felt like I was at a loss for information prior to coming in. Feel free to ask anything about the nursing, the Navy, the application process, duty stations, ODS, Norfolk, etc. Good luck to you and thank you for considering service in the US military.

See below. Good to know. I want to do it the right way! I have the answers I need now, thanks everyone!!

hello! I know this is a couple years later but I was wondering how you are liking the Navy?! I am getting ready to submit my application. I was wondering how long it took for you to pick your duty stationed and get ODS orders after your application was submitted?

how did you like Beaufort. im thinking of making that one of my top choices

Hey guys I know this is an older thread but I have found some very useful info! I was just recently accepted into the Naval nursing corps and I'm waiting to get my ODS orders. Does anyone remember how long it takes to get ODs orders and also my recruiter told me my detailer will contact me in November but I've heard you should contact them first because they are busy. I made a duty preference sheet with my recruiter but would like to change one of the Duty stations. My recruiter told me I should be able to commission in December then go to ODS in January or February. Super excited and super anxious. Would just love to have orders
