    Hey there cinja:
Well, I could be wrong but if you are a brand-spanking new 2 LT 66H without any experience I highly doubt you would get to Landstuhl at this point in your military career.
    But hey, you never know!
    Good Luck to you!

I do not for sure, but I was under the impression that Landstuhl was one of the nine residency sites for new grad nurses??

Yes, you can get a "choice."

I am currently at LRMC and we get the new RNs. Come on over.

So what is it like? Any mid-level providers?

I am now state side. Was there for 3 years. Wanted to pull a 6 yr tour but I was not directly assigned to LRMC. I was a FORSCOM ANC asset. The RNs and Docs that are under FORSCOM slots get sent to the hospital so you can keep your skills from going bad. That being said, you have to deal with two different commands. It becomes a big headache and this made me change my mind to only do 3 yrs.

JD, I am not sure what you mean by midlevel providers??? If you are referring to LPNs, there are some slots (civilian side). Military LPNs is a different story. There plenty around.

If I am not mistaken, LRMC is currently commander by an ANC. I think this is a first for the history of LRMC.

Mid-level providers generally refers to PAs and NPs.

A couple of my brand-new-nurse 2LT buddies at BOLC had Landstuhl as a first duty station, so it still happens.

Thanks for clearing that up Lunah.

I would be annoyed if someone looked at me as midlevel provider. Good thing I am not one of them. I do not like that term.

My husband was deployed there 2008-2009. He and I went back to visit after his deployment. I loved it there, and would LOVE to go back. He is now retired Navy with Navy DoD Occupational Health Nurse job. I am one class away from having my Masters in Nurse Ed. Sure wish a DoD job would pop up there at LRMC!
