You are correct in stating it is a very difficult program to get into. In the Navy, I believe you must complete your first tour of duty, which is usually 3 years and apply leaving your second tour, which can be as short as 2 years. The risk you take in hanging all your hopes on this dream is that only
2 nurses get selected each year. So depending on how many apply that particular year will determine the competitiveness you will be facing. Something else you may want to consider is doing a service transfer to the Air Force as they train and accept more into their program. Good luck.
