Military Reserve Nurse

  1. I have researched and tried to find the best option as to which military reserve branch to enter as an RN. Have my BSN with 3 years of ER experience. ANY general information on being an reserve nurse welcome as to what to expect, how to start the process, training, etc. need any up to date info possible.

    Let's start with where you live. That'll rule Navy in or out fairly quick.

    Where you live can rule out or in any service since they are located in every state. Depending on how far you are willing to travel for drill will make a difference.

    How far Grissom ARB from you? There's also NG and ANG.

    I have actually contacted the NG for info as well. I'm Evansville tri state area in Indiana

    Wright Patterson may be the closest AF reserve base to you.

    There's a NOSC in Louisville, KY depending on how far you're willing to travel. I have about an hour and a half commute to my reserve unit but any travel over 50 miles and you will get berthing for the weekend which makes it a little easier. However I've been brainwashed into believing Navy Medicine is best so my opinion is biased
