When any of you got your official orders did they come certified or just regular mail? My orders were always either given to me by my command or through regular mail. Just wondering if things have changed.

Hey all, I'm at BOLC right now. The first several days of BOLC are inprocessing, so lots of welcome briefs and safety briefs and paperwork briefs and the like. If you guys have questions, feel free to PM me. Also, I saw in the beginning of this thread someone who was talking about wearing contacts in the field. BAD idea. Don't care what anyone tells you, you will get your butt kicked for doing something like that because they will tell you a trillion times once you get here that you may NOT wear contacts in the field. It's just a safety thing. They will provide you with glasses (very sexy glasses) and safety glasses with inserts for the field.

Thanks for the chuckle of the day w/ the sexy glasses thing. Though I can figure out about 89% of my orders, some of the acronomys are not familiar to me. Where do I find a translator? lol. I had to look up on the acronym finder, ha!

Care&Joy, there is a prep course that starts on 3/9 immediately prior to BOLC. I don't know what it for, but it sounds like you are probably enrolled in that. Also the next BOLC course has a report date of 3/23, there are no BOLC courses that start 3/29 your branch manager was mistaken and your orders are correct! You can look up courses and descriptions on ATTRS (https://www.atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/)

If you haven't received the email from the TAC officer, graduation for phase 1 is May 16 at 0800. It states there is no phase 2 (AOC add-on) graduation.

Also, New1LT, I got my orders in email and they eventually came regular USPS

Thanks for the info! Taking over 2 weeks off my preparation time to leave has given me a slight stroke d/t the fact I had so much to do & so little time as it was. The only thing I'm trying to make sense of is housing, as I don't see anything mentioning that until the 23rd & on. I have grandparents in SA I could always stay w/, but they live way on the SW side & I don't want to risk traffic that far away every day.

BTW...where did you find the dates in the course catalogue? I kept trying to look up certain courses & a lot of the 2011 ones said there were none for that FY yet.... maybe I'm just looking it up the incorrect way!

Care&Joy: I only know of the prep course from an email from the TAC a few days ago. There was a one line mention regarding reporting for people that were already there for the prep course on 3/9 ... sounded like it matched up with your report date. I don't know anything about this course other than that.

Regarding housing, somewhere in your orders it will tell you if housing is being provided or not; if not then you'll get a per diem for this TDY period which will be plenty to cover rooms and meals (http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/perdiemCalc.cfm). You can still stay in lodging on post, you'd just have to make a reservation and pay up front until you're reimbursed. If you can't get a hold of your branch manager or recruiter I'd be glad to help you decipher your orders, just pm me

I used this Army Vet Corps website to decipher my orders [ http://vetopportunities.amedd.army.m...01/orders.html ]
Walked me through the whole thing!

Is anyone familiar with the San Antonio area? It'll be my permanent duty station as of March and I need to figure out what's fun to do there!

Thanks again. Yeah, I was concerned because even though I could stay w/ grandparents, they live waaayyyy on the other side of SA & I don't think driving that drive every morning would help me w/ timliness considering dreaded traffic. I'd prefer being close so I can be early every day w/out stressing about traffic congestion!

I'm going to have to look over my orders again & see if you can help me w/ the parts that are greek to me...your last sentence was like music to my ears, Ha ha! . It's not the deciphering really, it's just the order & what applies where, since I have 2 report dates .

I spoke with our branch manager today - she confirmed that my report date would be 23 March, and that we should hopefully have orders this week. It's a funding thing at this point, as GreyWolf referenced (http://allnurses.com/government-mili...ml#post4786993), and people who have to report early are the ones being stationed there -- that's why the early date, and why their orders were pushed through first. She hopes we'll get orders this week! Yay!!
