Just got a call for an interview at the VA for an ICU position in two days. So this is kind of last minute, but hoping to get a response. I haven't been on an interview in a long time, but assuming (as a male) to just wear khakis/nice shirt? Do I need a tie?

You need to wear professional clothing. A jacket and tie would not hurt.

Thanks jeckrn. I was leaning towards wearing a suit, but I only have a black one and I'm thinking that may be too formal.

Wear a suit, and rock it.

I don't think it is too formal. It shows professionalism. That's not to say that every guy should go buy a suit for an ICU interview but since you have one, I would wear it.

Thanks everyone. I will probably rock the black suit :)

You could always get a fun tie to wear, if you think the black is too serious. Nothing crazy, but you know what I mean. Good luck!!!

Thanks Pixie.RN! I wore the black suit, but with a medium blue shirt and black tie, it seemed to work. I got a call back today, one day after the interview :) Thanks!

Yikes, a wore khakis and a nice shirt.....I feel under dressed.

I have always worn scrubs as I work nightshift and makes for a great excuse.

I think a suit is a bit much. I don't ever remember an interviewee coming in a coat and tie.

Well, he did get the job offer :) I don't think it's essential but I think it is fine. I wear a black knit jacket and knit pants, kind of like a suit, when I interview or have something important to attend regarding my job.
