Hello all again,

Thankfully this morning I got my ATT and scheduled for the nearest date to test. This is for July 18th at 9 am. So, as soon as I get the hopeful positive results I can hopefully get my real official orders to get ready to head down to OBLC.

Good luck on your NCLEX gen....I took the kaplan course and have a whole sheet of "NCLEX rules" that came in pretty handy for me...let me know if you want it and I can send it to you. I'm still waiting for OBLC orders too...hopefully soon for both of us. I still need to buy uniforms...yikes! Anyway, good luck, let me know if i can help you with your studyin or anything. :)

That would be most generous and helpful! Yes.

Rme4life from here, asked me if I needed the list of things to bring, (uniformwise) and I also have a list of paperwork that we need to bring too.

Have you been to the OBLC welcome site? it is used to replace the welcome letter/packet. It has useful information as well.

Hello,

Yes I have it and will list it out. Not all of it is applicable to me but I figure I'd better bring ALL of what is.

Does this list look familiar?

"REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR OFFICER BASIC COURSE INPROCESSING"

* 3 copies of 201 file for prior service, Reserve and National Guard only. School packets for ROTC/USMA. Make sure that they are up to date.

* 5 copies DA71 (Oath of office)

* 3 copies of ROTC contracts

* 3 copies of SMP if applicable (Simultaneous membership program)

* 30 copies of all orders (both PCS and TDY orders) and any amendments. Officers coming from ROTC will only have 1 order that serves as both a PCS and TDY order.

* Medical records, Dental Records, Immunization Records, (yellow shot record). Examinations, immunizations, HIV and DNA testing will be administered during inprocessing.

* To set up your pay, you will need a direct deposit from your bank or a blank check with the correct routing number.

8If you wear glasses bring two pair of your current prescription glasses. You will receive issued glasses while in the course, but it takes at least three weeks to receive them.

*3 copies of DD Form 214 if applicable, showin gany prior service. Without this you will not get paid E pay or years of service pay if it is due (4 years +1 day of prior service constitutes eligibility for E pay). ADT time for reservists and National Guard soldiers can count towards E pay; therefore bring your reserve retirement points report, if applicable.

* if you are married, you will need 5 copies of your marriage certificate, you also need birth certificates for any children, (SSN #s also)

* if you are not already in the military pay system bring at least $200-$500 to hold you over financially, (consider travellor's checks).

* if you bring a POV, (privately owned vehicle) you will have to register it on post, therefore you must have a valid vehicle registration, proof of insurance and driver's license

* motorcycles are discoruages as a mode of transportation....

* if you have identification tags (dog tags) bring them with you. If you do not, a set will be issued during the course.

This is the sheet Rme4life, hope it is helpful.

There was another sheet that I saw that said we were supposed to bring more...here, let me get it:

Ah, got it. It is from a folder titled "Army Health Care Team, New Officer's overview." The section is, "What to bring to OBC" and "What not to bring".

What to bring:

Army Documents

*Orders and Amendments

*Appointment letter

*All Oaths of Office (DA Form 71)

Prior Service Officers must also bring

*DD form 214 or NGB Form 22

*Medical and dental records including

panorex dental X-ray

*Finance and personnel records

*Government credit card if you ahve one

Personal Documents

*original professional licenses and credentials

*Final transcripts/copy of diploma

*Professional board scores

*Financial institution address and account numbers

Standard form 1199A, Authorization for deopost of federal recurring payments, signed by financial institution

* Bank Checks adn deposti slips

*Social Security card

*Driver's license or other form of identification

*Copy of approved physical examination including any waivers

*Medical and dental records including immunization records

*prescriptions for glasses/contact lenses

*HIV screening results

*Marriage certificates?divorce decrees

*Birth certificate for self and family members/adoption papers of family members

Clothes: bring casual clothing. You should also bring athletic wear shuch as running shoes, athletic supporters for ment and sports bras for women. If you already have some military uniforms bring them with you...[note, we both know that the OBLC website says this is no longer the case and that we must bring all our uniforms with us]

Medication: bring any prescription medication you are taking as well as refills if necessary

Vehicle: bring your own vehicle if you have one. You may need it for transportation between your hotel, if you are assigned to one, and the AMEDD center and School. For those in need of transportation the Army will provide a shuttle bus...Students will be reimbursed for only one day of travel to and from OBC

Money: Bring enough to make it to your first paycheck at the end of the second month or until you receive advanced pay at the end of the second week. It is a good idea to bring traveler's checks because of limited check cashing facilities.

School supplies: you may want to bring some school supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, etc.

What not to bring: Family, Pets, Weapons.

However, since I will be permanent duty there and living in my apartment, I "will" have my pets, (three cats) with me. I am scouring the "Noble Foster" databse to find a temp foster for our three week field exercises. If I have no luck then I'll have to hire a pet sitter/house sitter. :)

Congrats on getting to this point Gen, I know it's been hard for you. Good luck on the NCLEX, I'm sure you'll do well. As far as uniforms, don't you buy those once you get to OBLC? We were told to show up with our bathroom stuff and underwear, we bought everything else there, but that was Navy, maybe you guys do it differently.

Hi,

I've been scouring the site to re-discover the letter advising that it is best to purchase uniforms before arrival. I recall it saying that failing to do so may cause an issue since not all sizes or styles were available at the PX at FT Sam Houston. It makes sense considering how many classes are going through there. There are two sites I was looking at, one for Alpha company 187th medical battalian and then the AMEDD OBC site: http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/obc/

The AMEDD site must be in the process of updates because some pages are unavailable.

Hi JaxiaKiley,

Thank you! I'm excited too. It is just now sinking in that I've graduated. :) It is also sinking in that I've got less than a month until I hope to both take NCLEX and also get my quick results. Phew, time is flying now.

About time! ;) Just joking. I hope you do well on your NCLEX and good luck with everything. I've been wondering if you started yet. So you find out where you get stationed after NCLEX or during OBC?

Hello,

I already know where I'll be stationed and have received a welcome letter, (BAMC in TX). This works great because it was easy to search for, apply and get an apartment locally.

:)

It IS about time!
