Do you qualify for BAH during COT and NTP? If so, how do they determine how much since you will be in Montgomery for COT and NTP may be somewhere other than your permanent duty station?

Yes, if you have dependents, we get BAH during COT. But don't expect it right away. Mine finally got fixed right. So I got back pay from May.

Well, my daughter and I will be living with my aunt in Gautier, MS until my husband reports to Keesler. What would we need to do to make sure we get BAH? Should I work up a short term lease with her to turn in to the Finance Office?

You don't need to prove how much or that you are paying for housing. He will need copies of your marriage cert and daughter's birth cert (probably several copies! lol). If you have family dependents, you get BAH unless you are living with your family in on base housing. I would suggest that you make him 2 folders of paperwork. I seperated everthing out. I had an plastic accordian one with all the paperwork I thought they'd want (many copies of orders, birth certs, passports, SS cards, licenses, ACLS and BLS cards, immunization record, etc). I put the mulitple copies of each of thes in the plastic accordian and then had a folder just for originals so I wouldn't hand an original over.

Thanks for the idea. We have got to start making copies of everything. Do you need certified true copies?

no, don't worry about certified copies. And also, get lifelock or something. I am just amazed at how my social security number has no security around it! We use the social for everything.

I'll look into lifelock. Thanks for the recommendation. I hope he gets his orders soon. I'm itching to turn in my notice, but don't want to jump the gun in case things change.
