Army nurses - How is your relationship with your nurse manager

Hi to all,
As a new army nurse, I am trying to navigate the waters of being an army nurse. Was just wondering, how is your relationship with your nurse manager? I know that the army is not a "touchy/feely" organization. Does your nurse manager support you, have your back, etc. When you have personal/family issues, does it become a "problem" for your manager. Does upper management support you.
