Army Nurse Corps FY2013

Specialties Government

Published

Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.

Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013

Ill start with my story,

I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.

I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).

I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.

The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an accelerated BSN.

I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.

I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.

Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!

HOOOOOOAH!

Lizzardmommy,

I couldn't agree with you more! All I can think about is commissioning and I just wish scrolling didn't take this long. I feel like I am in the same boat as most people on here, in that I know absolutely nothing. The only thing that I received from my recruiter was a "congratulation you were selected". When I asked questions the only thing that I was told was that I have to wait to be scrolled and that we could handle things afterwards.

Everyone keeps asking whats next or when do you leave? But of course I can't tell them anything LOL. I also check this page several times a day, because this is where I have received most of my information.

I hope scrolling happens soon, because I am so excited to get started!!!!

I know right! I am counting on peeps on here to post as they get word they are done being scrolled so we can know when to expect word from our own recruiters.

My recruiter called me a week ago and told me I had been scrolled and everything was good to go. I signed more forms :) And was sworn in on Tuesday. He initially said the scrolling could take 30-90 days, but maybe I just got lucky. I am now waiting on my security clearance. He did say that the actual commissioning takes place at Ft. Sam Houston and I will be sworn in again. Not sure if I am using all the "correct terms", so sorry in advance :) I hope the people still waiting to be scrolled hear soon!!

Well that is great to hear! Hopefully that means it won't be long for the rest of us. My recruiter has been staying in touch with me regularly which is unusual for him and he says he is expecting word any day so I am hopeful it will be soon!

my wifes transcripts are now updated and presently being mailed to the recruiter. Hopefully when they get there everything will update and she will be scrolled.

I don't have any info or documents that needed to be updated or added so I don't know what the holdup is in my case!

Everyone swears in 3 days before their report date, that is the norm.

Our swearing in was a day or two after reporting to BOLC -- this was in March 2011. We did a mass swearing-in in Blesse Auditorium at Ft. Sam. :)

I meant that is the earliest that you can swear in. I swore in 3 days early.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Wife just got a call from the recruiter. She will commissioning at the recruiting office next week. From there we will try to get her uniforms and ID, and get crap ready. If they try to offer a january BOLC date, we are gonna try to push it to respectively decline for a hope of March, but if we cannot, then we would obviously take January anyway.

Such a long time coming here. Cannot wait to make this happen. HOOAH

I hope it goes the way you want it to go. They are gonna post date her commission? I actually swore in May 15 but it was postdated till 3 days before my OBC date in July, my pay didn't start till then.
