Army Nurse Corps applicant and past hospitalization due to depression.

Hello everyone! I will be finalizing my application process to apply for the US Army BSN STRAP program. About 6 years ago I was hospitalized for depression. Since then I have not needed any further interventions.

1. Will the hospitalization be an automatic desqualifier?

References:

2. Do they must be from a former/current employer? or can they be from collegues or former college profesors? who else can I use for references?

A waiver more than likely will be needed for the depression. If you can start getting all your medical records now, they will need them to make thier decision. Not just from the care provider for the depression but also your PCP or anyother health care provider.

A reference is needed from your current employeer. Know this can be a problem for some but that is what they want. Past college professors and coworkers are good references. The like professional references vs. referneces from friends, etc.

Good Luck
