Is there anyone out there applying for a 66H slot for the Army active duty nurse corps FY 2018? If so, do you know how many slots there will be? Thanks!

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

No clue, but good luck!! :)

I'm applying for 66T. My recruiter said the numbers are usually released in August/September for this next fiscal year. My recruiter says she thinks the slots and bonuses will be more than the last few years. We shall see!

Make sure you ask about the Incentive Special Pay (ISP) bonus if you are going to commission as a 66T. When I came in as a 66T (under the old AOC, 66HM5), I almost made the mistake of taking the $30K accession bonus, when I was actually eligible for $20K per year x 4 years as a specialty nurse (total $80K over my four-year contract). As one of the people at the Human Resources Command (HRC) told me, "$80K is bigger than $30K." :D There is a little bit of ISP info here: Special Pay for Nurse Corps Officers | Military.com

Number of slots is always a big mystery. No one is going to know that on this site. The recruiters probably don't know that yet. It's a last minute thing that is finalized right before the board meets. It's based on how my ROTC grads come in, how many people are separating, how many people are retiring, and what's going on in the world (i.e. deployment needs).

Thank you for the heads up! I will be sure to clarify once I am selected (fingers crossed!) . Hopefully will get my identifier approved in the coming weeks - recruiter is submitting CV and all documentation to nurse corps this week. :)
