You got it, this is the first one. He's in Nashville and I'm about 3 to 4 hours away. We've talked on the phone pretty extensively. He's coming down to Huntsville, AL to pick up someone who's going to the Chief Nurse interview, so we're kind of meeting half way. He requested early on that my wife come along to the meeting because his words were, "It's not just you joining. You're family is joining too." So that has put me at ease.

Cool. Yeah, I'm 2 hours away from my recruiter, which makes it a little more difficult. Hopefully you'll get good news that you'll be going for January... but just a warning, he may tell you that it's gonna be March before you get to COT. To have a recruiter get you through MEPS, do an interview, and get all the paperwork together in a little over a month for the october boards would be almost a miracle, I think. At least, it would with my recruiter. He's not exactly a MENSA candidate...
Good luck! Ask lots of questions! And if you think of any you forgot to ask him in your meeting, or want to double check on something he said, this is a great place to find out what the real deal is...!

Hey thanks! Before I ever talked to a recruiter, I read a lot of information on here and was expecting basically a used car salesman. But I've been surprised so far because he seems to be really on the ball.

hi everyone! i'm having my chief nurse interview next tuesday (that's the plan anyway) and then just waiting to hear back. my recruiter told me it might be march for COT because the class will probably fill up for january before the board makes its decision. i'm so anxious about moving to somewhere where i don't know a single person but seeing everyone getting together on here makes it a little better!

aren't there only a handful or so of bases to choose as a new nurse in the AF? i remember my recruiter saying that i think but it was so long ago i can't really remember!

I met my recruiter in-person today for the first time and got the paper work officially underway. Took care of some odds and ends. MEPS will be next. Don't know when yet because I have an injury that has to be dealt with before I can go.

Bart, the process is not fast at all if you have no waivers...with an injury to deal with, it will slow it down even more. DO NOT get discouraged! If this is what you want to do, just stay dilligent, stay motivated and keep in touch with your recruiter. Take the extra time to make sure you know what you're getting into...and to run, do push ups and crunches, etc. As long as you keep things moving forward, you will get what you need to be successful.
