Haha, yes, I'd say your quite ambitious but I'm sure it can be done. I didn't decide until late October and thought it would be rushed but I had plenty of time. Can I ask how the process has been for going from ANG to AF Nurse Corps? Will you be able to continue with your TIS? I was told there are still 40 spots left this FY for general clinical nurses but I didn't get the number for CC. I'm hoping that means the odds are still in our favor.
Good luck with everything, keep us posted

I think we have to have a certain amount of messages back and forth to each other before we can private message each other. I will try to send you a private message and see if it goes through. Talk to you soon. - Jan 9 by kdazzlezacheus81,
hey just a heads up. I tried to private message you. if it went through, look by the sign out button and the picture of the envelope should be red if it went through. it took me some time to get used to where everything is and how to do things on this site. LOL. let me know if you dont get it. I am not sure if you can type out regular emails on this part of the site, i think it has to be private message only. but let me know either way. talk to you soon. - Jan 9 by kdazzlehey Carlily,
welcome to our thread!!!!!! thats cool that your in the ANG. how is that going for you? what has made you want to go active duty-all the way? I am going in for a med-surg position. thanks (JillyRN) for saying what the number of slots were for med/surg. my recruiter didnt know when I asked him so it was nice to hear it from you. LOL. So carlily, do you think that your application will be done and sent in on time? my recruiter told me that the packets had to be mailed out by Jan 15th. did anyone else hear the same thing? Talk to you all soon. - Jan 9 by carlily0513Hi Guys...The ANG has been great, so much so that I have decided to go active duty. My transition so far has been nothing but positive. My unit has really encouraged me to follow what I am passionate about which I think shows a lot for the AF. I finished my app last night and meet with the CN Monday then it's the sit and wait game! I still have to head to COT, I haven't been yet with my unit (only in for 9 months now) so nervous about that as well. Honestly I love being in and hope my experience on the active side is just as positive. Just praying that I get selected. I am not sure how many slots are open for CC but hoping there is one for me. This is going to be a lonngggg couple of months. Good luck to everyone!

hey, thats great!!!! I am glad that you love the airforce. I just got done with my second CN interview and it seems like all of the colonels are sooooo nice. this is my second time applying for the selection boards. back in february of 2012, I had applied when I was still in school and didnt get selected but there were only like 18 slots and my recruiter seems to think they wanted people that were already done with school, so now that I am, hopefully I will get selected too. LOL. you will do just fine with your interview. make sure your recruiter gives you a cheat sheet so you know whats gonna be asked. if you dont have one then I can tell you whats on it so you know and can be as best prepared as possible
. your right, it's gonna be a long time until march comes around. Where are you from, do you have any kids? Talk to you soon.
- Jan 9 by carlily0513Hi,
Since this board is very selective I can see how difficult it can be to be selected while in school! I am sure this time around it will be a different story :-) As for myself, I have a 2 year old and my husband who is prior service Army. I did get the info on the interview which is a great help!! Can't wait to be done though. Hoping these next few months fly by. Are you currently working as a nurse? I know the AF has a great program for new nurses so that's something to look forward too. - Jan 9 by JillyRNYou're welcome Kdazzle! My recruiter gave me that info while I was signing off on my application and he was sounding very optimistic about the high number of open slots but he didn't have any idea about how many packets would be reviewed at this upcoming board. January 15th was the date he told me as well but since he would be going on emergency leave he sent mine on 3rd.
Carlily,
Good luck at your interview! I had the same experience as kdazzle with a very kind chief nurse. She only asked me a couple of the questions that I was prepared for. She actually did ask a lot about our experience with the Army lifestyle and was curious about my decision to choose the AF over the Army. I got a lot of questions about family support with the decision, how I would feel about having to deploy, potentially leaving my spouse and/or children. It was more a discussion than an interrogation which was nice

I have been a nurse for 4 1/2 years. I have 2 girls myself. their ages are 3 and 8. what made you choose the AF over the army-just curious. good luck on your interview. my recruiter wont be sending my packet out until the deadline which is monday due to some things on my credit report that I had to explain and write out when my husband was laid off last year. that part is so stupid but I got to do it though. talk to you soon.
