I was told there was no loan repayment either - and then I got an email from someone down at AFPC direct to me (she used the email on my resume) telling me how to apply for the loans AS SOON AS I GET TO MY BASE. So apparently, they have money hanging around (typical USAF/DOD/Pentagon/Congress - they have a mattress stuffed somewhere), we'll just have to jump through hoops to get it.

If you really want to be an officer in the USAF, I wouldn't recommend waiting - there's always the chance that they may not offer it again, especially given the current budget crunches. You might find that you've waited, and they've downsized the number of COT seats available. Not likely, but not unheard of either.

STAY ON YOUR RECRUITER.

Hummm I wonder why my recruiter neglected to tell me there is an October COT ship out date when I went for Meps in July. He told me all the other ones, at least I think he did. September was supposed to be the meeting about budget, loan repayment, and bonuses....Still no news. Apparently, now November is the time to wait for. I'll just be happy if I'm seeing new places and I'm making enough to pay my bills in this economy.

-Hoping for January pending acceptance.

*May BSN graduate, still no job =\ No interviews either*

Looking for news about the new PT scoring system if anyones heard also.

Thanks.

There is no November COT date.

After the October class, the next class date is 11 January 2010.

They don't run a November class because you would graduate during the Christmas holiday.

Yep - the new budget will go into effect 1 October 2010 - the Pentagon's fiscal year is 1 Oct - 30 Sept. Sorry - I misread your post and I wanted to be sure folks got correct information.

I have started reading the COT Manual and I have to fill out an Officer Performance feedback worksheet. At the top of the form it is asking me for my.......

Gaining unit commander (Rank and Full name)
Your Squadron Commander
His/her Direct Switch Network number

I'm not familiar with these terms. Is this a person at COT or at Mt. Home AFB.

PLEASE HELP ANYONE

Your sponsor should get in touch with you before you leave for COT. They can give you all that info.

Gaining unit commander will be your squadron commander when you reach Mt. Home (I'm assuming that's where you're headed after COT graduation)

I believe your squadron commander NOW is simply the commander of COT (not quite sure about that one).

The Direct Switch Network number (or DSN) is just the base-specific phone number for Mt. Home and is considered your "work number". It's part of a base wide (and DoD wide) phone network. You can probably look up the base online to find the DSN or contact your gaining squadron orderly room (if that's what their calling them now).

Hope this helps.

The squadron commander that form is looking for is the gaining squadron and he'll have all that when his orders come.

I can't remember where I heard or read this........if you don't pass your PT and COT then you don't get your sign-on bonus. Is there any truth to that?
