Are Air Force Nurses Deployed very often?

I wanted to know if Air Force nurses are deployed very often. I have 3 kids and want one more, but I am seriously considering joining the Air Force after I am accepted to anesthesia school. Can anyone help me out on this one?

Well, I have always liked the thought of the air force. They will pay for my anesthesia school and pay me a stipend while I am in school. I will enter the AF as a 2nd lut and upon graduating and receiving my cert be an O3 and a captain. I will only have to serve 3 years as a CRNA in the AF and will have that on my resume. I would join after I am accepted to anesthesia school.

YOu said you have 11 yrs nursing experience correct? You will come in as a cpt. as soon as you get commissioned. Have you been promised anesthesia school by the recruiter? Generally you have to serve 2 years on station before applying to an AFIT position for CRNA; unless you are doing some other sort of program. I'm trying to get the process started now myself and it is not easy.

I think her anesthesia school is civilian side and is on her own than Air Force??? Am I right?

If you are talking about deployments there is no guarantee. I have Known active duty nurses to deploy every time their window comes up (currently every 15 months) and I have known nurses to never deploy. There is no guarantee no matter what anyone says. I will tell you that anesthesia comes in handy in deployed areas if that should give you any ideas.

Hey,
I am in my jr. year of nursing school. I plan on joining the AF after i graduate or when I am a senior. I am prior service army. When you say deploy, how long are the deployments for nurses?

I want to join the AF so that I can continue and pursue a master's degree. Hopefully as a CRNA. I know that it is competitive, but I'll take my chances because I want to repay my student loans. Any advice would be appreciated.

Obviously it can be more or less than this but expect 6 months of deployment for every 24 months in the states.

Also expect change. What happens this year is not what can happen next.

Sounds like you are looking to do HPSP. Have you thought about the USAGPAN?
