Can't help it - I see it so much and it makes such a bad impression....it's like no one teaches "professional dress" to kids anymore, and if they don't know (and a lot of them just don't) you can't really blame them for the mistake (although you'd hope they'd know it's not acceptable in certain places).
Glad I amuse you. :) I am, after all, here to serve....lol....air power and all that.....

I just had a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me.
I wanted to know if anyone was offered signon bonuses or loan repayment for student loans. I would like to join but I make a lot more where I work now then I would as a military nurse. With a signon bonus or loan repayment I would be able to afford to join.
Also, did you have to take any fit test? Are there any physical fitness requirements or weight requirements?
Also, do they accept nurses at other times during the year besides october???
thanks so much

Take a look on the AF recruiting site for some of your questions on fitness etc, but to basically answer your question yes you have to pass fit test twice a year.
I make over 100K a yr as a Captain with 8yrs, and a significant portion of that is non taxable. Pay starting out maybe low, but it goes up quickly.
Call an Air Force Health Professions Recruiter (or any HP recruiter for any of the branches) for information on the latest and greatest bonuses and student loan repayment offers.

Hi everyone and congrats to those going into training soon! I just found out I'll be going to COT in January. I just wanted to warn people that I've heard the Air Force won't be taking any new nurses till 2012. I guess a lot of people were accepted recently. Good luck to all the new grads! I know how frustrating it is.

I am an alternate (4 of 30, I was told). Boy, I was bummed when I found that out, but I am trying to stay positive ... or should I? Any alternates out there like me? I am an ICU nurse, who was supposed to graduate with my BSN this month. However, I started slacking of in my capstone class when I got the news about my "alternate status". To me, it was like "What's the rush"? My teacher said, "It takes most people an extra 8 wks to get this done", although I probably could've had I been discipled. I could wrap it up in probably a wk or two, but I am wondering what my odds are anyway? Should I take my time or rush rush rush? I think 4 is an ominous sign. An idea guys?

You never know what's going to happen. What if someone drops out, another gets sick, another gets pregnant.....
Get and be prepared for anything. If it happens you're ready. If it doesn't, you can relax knowing you are ready for anything at a moments notice!
Stay positive and stay focused.
Good luck.

take a bowel prep and some lasix
There is a weigh in right away at COT. They just spent all that money to get you there. I don't think they turned anyone away - and there were some obviously overweight people in my class. Do your best to get down, that is all the power you have over the situation. I can't tell you not to stress out about it, because I would too.

You better not be dropped HNELLA! We're ready for you to get here!!
Seriously though, if you're borderline, you'll probably lose some of that weight while you're at COT. And just like mid said, they spent alot of money just getting you this far. Just watch your diet over the holidays!!
