I just spoke with the recruiter, it looks like they will need more nurses this year and budget will be increased for it. So..it looks like people, including myself, will have a good chance of being selected for this board. I am applying for a med-surg position.

Hey there. Been paying attention to this thread but have never posted. Figured I'd keep it going since boards started this week!! Got a frantic call from my recruiter tonight saying the "program manager" had some additional questions for me after going through my packet and I needed to answer them ASAP! I work in a pediatric ER and based on the questions he or she just wanted to know if my ER is an urgent care or a trauma center (we are the latter). Well I guess if I get non-selected at least I'll know they considered me!

Anyone else hear from the program manager??

Sounds like you could be potentially picked up. I am applying to a med-surg position and am awaiting for the results. Hang in there!

I hope you are right!! There's a chance he won't like the info I gave him about our ER! The pediatric population has far fewer codes and traumas on a daily basis then an adult trauma center does (Thank God!) and his questions mostly pertained to how many codes/traumas do we see on a daily basis. I have no idea what he was looking for and my recruiter wouldnt even venture a guess. And since I never said it, I'm applying for an ER spot :-)

I just found out my waiver to be able

to apply twice in one year got approved while my app is at boards. Do you think that is a positive sign or am I reading too much into it?

I would say that it is a positive sign in the very least that your package is being reviewed at boards. Keep your fingers crossed. BTW, what identifier/position did you apply for?

So does reviewed mean considered? Do they not all get considered though? I applied for icu but told my recruiter to say I'd take anything if I couldn't have icu. Who knows if he did it or not, I have anything but impressed with him.

Reviewed is just saying that the board is looking over your package to determine rank order. The board considers all packages that they receive from the recruiters. The board places that packages in rank order for each identifier (job), so the best most qualified candidate would be number 1 followed by each successive candidate’s package. They are then given a number of how many people are going to be picked up for each identifier (job), so let us say for example there are 100 candidates with the ER identifier, the board gets a number back that they are allowed to pick up 40 candidates, so the first 40 candidates (1-40) are selected. AFRS (Air Force Recruiting Services) is the group that selects the candidates. The selected packages are then sent to AFPC (Air Force Personnel Center) to review the assignment (location that candidate would be stationed at).

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info! You must have a great recruiter!! Mine originally told Kentish my waived wouldn't be approved unless I was selected. Then when he told me it was approved I asked him if that meant what I thought it did, he said probably not. He contradicts himself a lot. So why would my waiver get approved while my app is at boards if I was at the bottom of the list? Does this mean it may be in the section of being selected? This is whAt confuses me. I just wish it was the end of august already!!

I must say my current active duty recruiter along with my air force reserve recruiter are nothing but awesome.
