2010 Navy ODS Class

I'm in the NCP (Nurse Candidate Program) and will be graduating from nursing school at the end of the year and wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about when they're supposed to be leaving for ODS in Rhode Island.

Also, has anyone gotten their orders yet from your detailer?

I spoke with my detailer today and he said he could get me into my first pick (San Diego) and that I could go to ODS at the end of January...

congratulations on getting your first pick! I may be in your ODS class. I graduate in December too. I haven't talked to the detailer yet. I've been a little hesitant to call, but after reading your post, I might call him. When do you plan to take the NCLEX?

yea I suggest calling immediately because they say we're supposed to get our orders two months prior to graduation, so if you're graduating in Dec....i say call them NOW!!! u already sent in your duty preference sheet right?

I would like to take the NCLEX in December since my official graduation date is nov 9 (the ceremony is in dec) so hopefully that works out! what about you?

I actually graduate on December 19 and I want to take at least 3 weeks to study for the NCLEX. I just can't wait to graduate already!!! I have a serious case of senioritis.

I already sent my duty preference sheet. My first pick is Portsmouth, then San Diego, then Bremerton (Seattle). My husband is in the Coast Guard so we had to pick places where we could possibly get co-located together. Did you call the detailer or did he contact you? Do we all have the same detailer?

I have a serious case of senioritis too!!! how about I'm replying to you while sitting in class! I'm just soooo ready to be done! lol

I hope everything works out with your stationing...I've read that they do try their best to keep couples together.

I had to contact my detailer and I HOUNDED him so be persistent. I'm not sure if we all have the same detailer or not tho...mine is LCDR Palmer. I think they're assigned by region :-/

How funny! I'm replying in class too. Senioritis at its best!! lol

My detailer is LCDR Palmer too. Was he very helpful or was he kind of irritated? Where are you going to nursing school?

What's your name, btw? Mine is Moani.

Nice to meet you, too. I'm in school in Hawaii. I guess we fall into the same region. They say that Vegas is the "9th island" for us Hawaiians. We like us some Vegas, man!!

I'm like you. I want that s*&t on paper. It's not real unless it's on paper. I think I'll give him a call this week. My husband actually talked to him last week in order to get LCDR Palmer's contact information for my husband's detailer. And LCDR mentioned Seattle, but like I said, nothing's real unless it's on paper.

What have you heard about ODS?

Here's a comprehensive list of tips for ODS: http://navyhpsp.net/wiki/ODS_Tips

I just turned in my packet to the board (didn't do NCP) and I'm waiting to hear back on whether I got in or not; graduating in mid-December, taking NCLEX early January and hoping to go to ODS in late Jan/early Feb.
