Strange CoWorker Stories

I didn't see a thread similar so I decided to make one. Share your strange coworker stories! It's all in good fun.

A long time ago I was training with a nurse and before she started her med pass she goes "the most important med pass is one I do for myself" She began pouring random vitamins from the med cart into a cup and took them.

I have an aide that talks to herself. It's on the NOC shift but sometimes she works my shift and I'm always wondering "who is talking like that?" It's her. Full conversations.

One time I walked into the break room and a coworker was googling "how to cast spells on awful boss"

I'm sure I will think of more later

Back when I was an aide in LTC, I was training a new aide. This aide asked me if I ever did "favors" for the male residents.

Yes... she meant those kind of favors.

She told me she had :wideyed:

I was quickly thinking how I could get away from her, and not leave her alone with anyone, so I could report her immediately.

I was just stunned.

Turns out, another aide recognized her from another facility and raised the alarm already.

We were in a resident's room when she was asked to step out, and I never saw her again.

How about gross things.. I have a co-worker that trims her toe nails in the breakroom.. next to whomever is eating because she "likes to talk". Said coworker also likes to share WAAAAAAAAY too much personal stuff. I'll be kind and spare you those details.

Back when I worked the swing shift at a small nursing home, we had this one gal who always came in late, and was super annoyingly talkative, easily distracted, always ranting about the injustices, about management, yadda yadda. I suspected that she was faking some of her med pass because she seemed to live in an alternate time universe where you didn't have to haul ass to complete the whole thing in 2 hours, but had time for long chats with whomever.

The inept management was making noises about doing drug testing. She was ranting about that in the med room one day "Well, if they start that, I'll have to quit because I won't pass!" :roflmao: I think she was an old pot head, she had grown children and was sort of hippieish.

Not a nursing co worker, but when I was a teen I worked in a call center, and in between calls my very large lesbian butch coworker would tell me about her weekend adventures in the gay bar in very very graphic detail.

Lol my poor virgin ears!

Not the nicest way to describe somebody but it is funny to imagine your reaction to the things you'd never heard before. And, of course, way inappropriate for someone to be talking about explicit sex at work.

I had a co-worker who was an excellent nurse and a great team player but she, too, could not leave her dating/sex life at work and would talk about things very loudly at the nurses' station. On Christmas Day one year she wore a t-shirt that read, "Santa's Little Vixen".

She eventually was fired for sexual harassment after a female nurse she was orienting reported her for all of her sex talk. Or that was the rumor anyway.

Oops! Meant at HOME. Post too old to edit.

The new office "manager" at our Practice has brought a chicken, yes a chicken, to work on two different occasions. She asked if I could get her a syringe to feed the first one. I firmly explained the difference between a nurse and a vet tech.

Back in the 80s, I had a co-worker who would go catatonic. She would be charting, freeze in one position, and be unresponsive to verbal and tactile stimuli. After several minutes, she would unfreeze and resume what she was doing.

She also claimed she was being raped on a regular basis (prompting another nurse to say "I know they say someone is raped every twenty minutes, I just never realized it was the same person!").

One day she just disappeared, and we all forgot about her. Fast forward fifteen years, and I'm orienting on a locked, inpatient Psych unit. Guess who I ran into in the Art Therapy room? You got it.

Except I had a key to get out, and she didn't.

Yeah, our first clue, even before all of this; every Christmas we would each bring in a baby picture, post them on a board, and everyone would guess who they were. Her picture one year showed her curled up in a crib, sound asleep. Only problem was, she was about 5 years old.
