When I worked during the week and state would show up, I always made myself busy in the labor rooms. Inspectors don't like coming into the labor area for some reason...LOL :yeah:

Last January they entered on a Sunday afternoon, I was down on a wing with a resident that I ended up sending to the hospital. I handed the phone list to a NAR and told them to call at least 2 extra Aids, and turned to a LPN and told her to call the administrator and the Don and I unlocked the conference room and and told them that I had an emergency and went to the door and escorted the ambulance crew to the wing. by the time I was done with the transfer the DON was there. our survey went well even though it had a rocky start.

We recently had a full code occur while state was in the facility. This survey team is very tough and had been down our throats. Once they knew there was a code in progress they respectfully went to the conference room and waited until we were done. After the resident was out, we went to check back in with them & they told us to go take a break to clear our heads and they would resume in 20 minutes or so. Was pleasantly surprised with their attitude with this.

Best wishes with state Sue. Hope they don't "cross tag" you like they do with us. (ie: take one problem and list it under 3 to 4 different F-tags)

I don't envy you right now either. I hate "that time". Glad ours is over with. Phew!

We expect them any time. SuesquatchRN Don't forget that you can delegate. I have an LPN that is on light duty and she is doing Mock survey on each wing this week. and reporting back to the RN staff. This started on Monday. I will let all know how that works. I wish I had time to be the one doing the "mock Survey" but Today is Doctors rounds tomorrow & Friday I am House charge.. I cover 4 wings.

delee, I am so grateful to the floor nurses and aides on my unit I can't even begin to tell you. They have saved my greenie butt countless times this week!

We have a program to track them. They're not right. EVERY woman on my unit had a UTI according to the system. GAH! We have three.

I have no way to easily track who is a what assist, yada yada yada.

The form they come with is called (or at least it was called when I was a DON) an OSCAR, and you can get the one for your facility from the state. It reflects data as reported on your facility's transmitted MDS's, so if it's inaccurate when compared to facility infection control records it indicates that either your in-house records or your MDS's may not be completed/entered accurately.

Bless you, sister. I hear ya!

Oh, they're entered correctly. They're just never removed when resolved.

Once they leave and I get past the backlog they will leave me with I am setting up the monster spreadsheet of all time. I will NOT do the deer in the headlights again.
