ratio


in a skilled nursing home what is your ratio???mine is 120 bed with census at about 80 something...7-3= 3 lpn's,1RN,9 aids I think.....3-11 =3 lpn's ,9 aids and 11-7 =2lpns 5 aids my problem is on the 11-7 one nurse does 2 carts and I know everyone say's but how many meds do you actually do...but I am worried because this nurse has 43 patients to care for if something goes wrong and in this place it does!!!so what is the norm in your facility??

SNF that I just quit gives up 45 patients to one LPN at night with 2 - 3 aides. 1 nurse to 30 on 7-3 & 3-11. I just changed to med surg and the ratios are much better. 4-5 to one nurse. 8-9 to one RN if the RN has an LPN working with them.

Days 2 RNs one unit manager and 5 aides for 41 residents
Evenings 2 RNs 4 aides
Nights 1 Rn 2 aides
Most I've ever seen is 60 bed dementia unit nights one RN 3 aides. 30 subacute for one nurse on days with 2.5 aides
Least 41 beds 2 licensed plus one manager with 6 aides...same place had 1 nurse on evenings and she got everything done.

Days: 2 nurses, usually LPNs, and 3-4 CNAs
Evenings: 1 nurse 3-11, 1 nurse 4-8pm med pass, 2-3 CNAs
Nights: 1 nurse, 2 CNAs

This is for 32 residents, who are more and more skilled as the time passes. Maybe not medicare, but just require more time and patience, and are sicker in general.
