PAY RATE ISSUE

Aloha everybody...The administrator from a LTC facility in my place (oahu,hi) offered me RN job, but first they will train me as a CNA, after that LPN and then RN... She told me that I don't have enough experience yet (I'm working as a charge nurse from other facility as needed) and requires lots of training. She told me also that they can't afford to pay me the same rate from my other work which is $28. I asked her how much is the starting rate and told me it's $19.50...should I accept it?please help me decide...big thanks!

If you are an RN, then training you as a CNA and then LPN is kind of pointless, isn't it?
If it were me, I would politely decline, having worked so very hard to obtain my RN in the first place, and fulfilling a charge nurse role in another facility. Beyond that, you are held to RN standards, no matter which role you play in a facility...
Do what you know to be right, and don't ever undervalue yourself.

Huh? They can't "train" you to be a RN. Generally there is lots of schooling, testing, and state licensing involved! Either you are an RN or you are not! Also, $19.50 is pretty low pay for any type of RN...LPN too for that matter! Is the training pay $19.50 and the regular pay much more than that? Get the details!

Did the OP mean they would train her in those jobs as it relates to the facility so she understands job functions of all positions below her as an RN? Another wards her orientation would involve working with the CNA's the LPN's to learn what their jobs are, then transition into the RN role.

Heck no!! I wouldn't accept that pay rate. You're worth far more than that. I was making $19.50 as a LPN in Mississippi.

The idea is to take advantage of you and to get you to play along by giving you a story to cover their intentions. Either you are an RN or you're not. Why would you want to take a cut in pay that is that steep? Once you have committed yourself to the job, they can do anything they want, to include giving you excuses why they can't pay you as an RN because you "don't measure up". If I had a job at $28 an hour, I would stay there unless I were offered a job at more.
