Congrats!!! I don't work in LTC, but think that this advice applies to all:

1. Ask questions, no matter how stupid you may think they are. The only stupid question is one which is not asked. Learn how to ID the best nurses on your crew, and then pick their brains. Experienced nurses have so much to offer new grads, and I know I did (and still do) my best learning with those nurses who have experienced it ALL.

2. Do not expect to be the "expert" overnight. Expect to feel overwhelmed for the first year of your time as a nurse. Nursing school gives you an education; working as a nurse puts it all together.

3. Find some outlet for your stress. Rely on friends/ family and hobbies to give you that "break". Be kind to yourself.

Good luck to you as you start your career!
