LTC patients being sexually abused?

I went to the LTC last night and was told by the evening shift that a dildo or something similiar was found taped under the sink in one of the resident's rooms!!! The police were called and the 2 patients were sent to the ER for rape exams. I don't know what's going on. There is talk that they think someone was using the dildo on one of our residents!!! What do you think might be going on here?

Too little information to make an opinion.

Hope they're ok.

Well, if the residents are alert, mobile, etc, it may be theirs. If they're not, it just sickens me to think about it. WTH...?

I would put my money on it being a resident's. Why would an abuser go through all the trouble to tape it under a sink at the scene of the hypothetical crime ? Of course we don't know the state of the residents mental or physical conditions, if they are alert and in control of their actions then it would seem unlikely this involved foul play of some sort. It would take a very daring or insane abuser to not only do something like this but then to leave the evidence at the scene. I feel extremely sorry for any male employess at this facility because they all will automatically be guilty until proven innocent. Even if it was a resident's now that it has been publicly announced that could make them too embarrassed to admit it was theirs. You never know though, there are some sick people in this world. I hope, if there was any sexual abuse taking place, they quickly find the guilty party and put them under the jail. Maybe they will perform tests on the objects and see if any samples match the residents in question.

There is another similar post here somewhere. A facility is confiscating residents' sex toys...so it's no wonder some resident would go to the trouble of hiding theirs.

The fact that it's taped somewhere makes me think a resident would have hidden it. Might have felt like it was the only way to keep it private, since the aides and nurses get into the nightstands and closets when they are caring for a resident.

For someone else to do this to a resident, they wouldn't want to leave evidence behind, right?

Only the investigation will determine what might have happened though.

Wow! What a line to over step! I'm not an advocate for sex toy's or anything. But why on earth would a facility confiscate a residents' sex toys? They are a personal item that should be left alone. Interesting that a facility felt it was their personal business to take something so personal from a person. Hmm....

Thanks all for your opinions. Neither of the women residents are really that alert. Neither of the residents are mobile. One of the resident's is a younger woman who is dd. I have heard that the other lady has a "boyfriend" that visits sometimes. None of the staff believe that the sex toy belonged to either of the residents. They are doing a very thorough investigation to try to find out exactly what happened. Everyone working last night was questioned about the incident.
