Can a person have increase confusion due to K+ level being elevated?

Usually, you develop problems with conduction with very high levels of serum potassium. Look at the underlying pathology for the cause of the mental status changes. Acidosis, liver, and renal failure are a few problems where potassium disturbances can be seen along with mental status changes.

it makes sense that the high k+ actually CAN cause a confusion, because of the changes in the potentials in the na+-k+ channels in the brain, and if the activity of the channels is changed- there may be a confuson or even other mental & physiological effects (even seizyres depends on the zone of the brain...)

This was posted in the LTC forum, so I will answer based on that. With the elderly, sometimes the slightest variation in labs cause confusion...
