i am a student nurse and need interview questions answered by a geriatric nurse!!!

hi everyone i am a student nurse in my 4th quarter and i have some questions i need answered for an interview like presentation, so if you wouldn't mind answering these i'd be forever greatful!! Thank-you!!

1. why geriatric nursing is important to you personally? Simple answer....we are all going to get old and I would like a nurse like me taking care of me or my loved one. The are a special part of our population that deserve good care.

2.where the student would most likely be able to obtain this type of position? LTC, assisted living centers, day care centers

3. what is the expected education requirements needed to obtain/secure this type of position? The bulk of the nurses are LPNs, then come RNs. You don't need a 4 yr degree.

4.what are the specific job qualifications? Willingness to work as a nurse, be a team player, able to adapt and juggle. Asssessment skills, time management..

5.what are the salary expectations? That is going to vary in different areas. In my area it is on the same level as acute care and some places will pay more.

6.how does the nurse function as part of a nursing team? Well, they are the team leader. For the most part, the RN will be supervising the LPNS and CNAs. THe LPN can supervise the CNAs. They interact with the families, pts, doctors and other health care team.

7.name 3 things that you think are the best part of the job... Job security (alway have a job), family type of atmosphere..you get to know your residents, and there is always something new to learn.
