Facility Soap Opera

Updated Mar 20, 2005 at 06:46 AM by Chad_KY_SRNA

In the past the facility that I worked at had a certain level of professionalism. After the past month in my mind thats been shot to heck. We have this one CNA who has been married for two years who has been seperated and living with a drug dealer for a few months. She got tired of him and decided to go back to her husband who calls nightly to have two hour conversations with her. To get back at her he cuts all of her scrub pants up and puts ketchup in her work shoes. She swore she was going back to her husband tonight and not thirty minutes later goes outside, leaves the nursing home and comes back after spending an hour with the boyfriend. I forgot to mention that this boyfriend is an ex-convict who served 10 years for manslaughter. (Killed a man over a woman) We are all terrified that he is going to shoot her or get mad at her for playing with his emotions and kill all of us. He is having a sexual relationship with a nurse at our facility to get back at her. He thought that this nurse would make her jealous. He called at 3:00 am yesterday stating "I'm laying next to your boss, I told her that you were a big druggie and you are gonna have to take a drug test in three days. Unfortunately his plan backfired the nurse he slept with has no power she works the floor. He told her that he would sleep with everyone in the building if he had to. Most of them are married and wouldn't have a thing to do with him. Last week he came to work harrassing her and she went out to her car and brought a pistol into the facility and flashed it at him and told him if he didn't leave he was going to wish he had. Had I witnessed this I would have immediately dialed 911 and had her removed from the property.

Default Hi Chad,
A Chill ran up my spine after reading this. A few years ago a black jack dealer was shot and killed by her ex husband. He walked right up to her and shot her in front of everyone!
Follow your instincts if you feel your safety as well as others are at risk do something about it.I would involve upper mangement , get a restraining order do what ever you need to do. Good Luck to you!

Last night I could see her in my mind laying on the ground outside in the ambulance parking area bleeding to death. The CNA I was working with dropped something coming back from lunch and I just about had a heart attack.

WoW that's scarry! You should not have to deal with this type of stress in place of employment! Best Wishes!

WOW! What a mess!! I cannot believe the other nurse even hesitated in writing them up for sleeping. In the last LTC I worked, that was 1st time write up, 2nd time suspension, 3rd time termination. They did NOT play when it comes to sleeping on the job.

What's sad is the poor residents.

This is such a mess, glad you are getting out of there!

That girl needs to seek employment elsewhere! She is putting the rest of the staff, residents, and visitors at risk. I would be afraid to work my shift!
