Clinical software

by km rn

Greetings fellow LTC nurses -

We are actively looking for new clinical software. We will be changing from Mylex to one of the following:

a) ? SAEncompass by Saunder Associates
b) American Data
c) American Health Tech
d) Orcas - new software by ResTrack SHS
e) KeaneCae
f) Point ClickCare.

If you currently work with one of these software packages or have recently worked with them - please provide me with the positives/negatives about the program. For example - care planning - easy, hard, too many steps, etc. Support services - prompt, slow, etc. RAP - useful RAP section, etc.

PLEASE help by providing any information at all. I've talked to a few facilites about each company and also have talked with their sales people...but would love to hear from you.

ThanksQ

I have used the sofware from American Healthtech. I really liked this program. Easy to follow. Worked with it in the DOS version and the Windows version. Windows was much better. Tech Support was very good as well. Care plans were easy to edit and individualize. Tech support usually responded the same day. Was able to contact on the phone as well as through email. Program updates were available on the internet through a secure setting. The program had the capability to meet all the needs for our facility but we only used the clinical part of the program. When they came out with the QI module, it was a blessing. Saw what we needed to fix or QA before the state would come in.

The one draw back was the cost of the program. If I had to make the choice, I would pick American Healthtech again.

In my current postion, I see various programs in use. Many are corporate owned and designed. The program I see the most is Pathlinks. Good Luck!

is KEANE care the same as vista keane? if so i used it for 3 years. all beverly homes use it, and they have computer charting. The program we used had physician's orders, MDS software, careplans, mars, tars, one feature i really liked was in the care plan you could print documentation records for your nursing interventions, that was handy for the nursing restorative since the documentation record is supposed to match what is on the care plan, this simplified changes, since you only had to put them in one place. they improved it a lot in the 3 years i worked with it. I have no idea of cost. but it was very user freindly and user support was very helpful.
