Assisted Living

I have accepted a job at a privately owned assisted living facility. It is run by the Sisters of St. Francis. It seems like a very caring place for staff and residents.

I will be working the PM shift and will be passing meds. I was told upfront that I would not be using many of my skills. That is okay with me for the time being.

I have never worked assisted living before and look forward to the job.

I am currently working as a manager for a small treat shop and I "hate it". I have not had a weekend off in 2 1/2 months. I work long hours, sometimes doubles due to employees not showing for their shift. When I was hired they did not tell me the whole story, which was they just fired all the previous employees and manager a month before I started and that I would be starting and I only had two employees, new at that, to schedule to cover 7 days a week.

It has been a nightmare.

So anyways, wish me luck once again

Assisted Living should be a nice interlude for you. You may get bored in awhile. By the way, what exactly is a "treat shop"?

I work assisted living and sometimes it can be very hectic!!! Most of the time it is not so hectic. The pay is not so good but I do have good medical insurance. We have med aides at my facility, so I just do eye drops, nebulizer treatments, inhalers, insulins and blood sugars. Best of luck to you.

It is a place where we serve frozen yogurt, smoothies, frappe chillers, and cookies.

Thank you for the well wishes. I will be the one doing meds and treatments. I look forward to the new job and a little apprehensive at the same time. I have not had much luck at picking good ones. Maybe this time luck will be on my side.
