Another chapter for the book

Specialties Geriatric

Published

As some of you know, I'm writing a book about my years in long term care....

Here's another chapter: A nurse came to work with a runny nose...ok so I get you might have allergies. He thought it was okay to walk around with gobs of Kleenex stuffed up his nose. The nurse manager told him it wasn't appropriate. I had to tell him it wasn't appropriate. I walked on the unit later in the day and there he was again with tissues stuffed up his nose. Is it me or have I entered into the Twilight Zone of nursing?

Rant over.

Ah, so Mr. Nurse thought he would make a display of how "miserable" he really was so that he would get sent home? Cute. My kids tried those types of displays as well. Too bad that I wasn't born yesterday.

The least he could do is wear a mask so ya wouldn't have to LOOK at the noseplugs !

I'd hand him my purse and say take your pick...we've got Zyrtec, Benadryl, Sudafed, Afrin (well, if you take that one don't give me back what's left...). I'm the mother of an active toddler, I don't get to play/be sick. Something in that bag of tricks will work better than the Kleenex nasal packing.

Hear ya! I am another one who has multiple OTC nostrums in my purse at all times, just-in-case. Friends and co-workers used to refer to my purse as 'The Pharmacy'. :woot:
