hey guys i just took trip to atlanta for a seminar and i really enjoyed my 1 week stay ther in atlanta georgia. i also visited marietta , roswell, and i really like the area.

when i graduated with my adn and get my rn licensure i would liek to live in georgia.

what is the average per hourly wage there in atlanta georgia?

how would you rate the atlanta medical center in downtown atlanta as a place to work?

also how is the cost of living there?

SFC is one of the tenent hospital it just get a pass mark fron joint comm. Just be ready to work hard is an old hospital trying to stay alive. $10,000 is given if employed for 2years but be ready to work Good luck :uhoh3: :coollook:

Hi guys,

I'm a 4th year BSN student at the University of Virginia and I'm planning to move to ATL in June.

I just stumbled upon this forum while looking for info on Grady...boy am I glad I found you! I had heard that Grady wasn't the best, but was gonna give it a try. I think I've changed my mind!!!

But, is Northside really a good place to work. I spoke to someone in human resources and had a VERY bad experience...they were rude and not very knowledeable about their own programs. What's worse? Their orientation for new grad nurses consists of only 3 days. Ummm? Can we say dangerous? If anyone out there has better info, please let me know. I'd hate to scratch them off my list if it truly is a good place to work.

Hi, I originally started in California and have worked at Grady twice, learned a lot of hands on and legal aspects of institutional enviroment. I have landed a position at Henry Medical Ctr. in an observation unit that deals with a lot of cardiac pts and we have three peds beds available. Its a nice place, most of the employee are up beat. Give them a call and if you come LPN started August 1,05 in the observation unit. Good Luck jr

I am thinking of relocating to Savannah Ga. when my classes are done. I'm from California by way of Chicago. Can anyone give me a little information about the place. Will a city girl born and raised be able to fit in, are the people friendly. How's the weather, how are working conditions, what's a nice area to live in. Is the cost of living very high, can you find afforable housing. Which part of the city has the best schools. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks

I am from the Savannah area...Richmond Hill, Georgia...it's a great place to live (I lived there for 10 years and my parents still live in the same house). My mom is a teacher is RH and loves it...Savannah is about a 20-30 minute drive and the beach is about 30-40 minutes...RH has grown so much since we moved there in 1988, but is still growing and living/buying a home there would be a great investment! You would have access to Memorial, St. Joe's and other great hospitals in Savannah!! Hope this helps!

Georgia State University offers an "accelerated" nursing option for a BS degree which is accomplished in 1.5 years...having a previous degree will afford you a better chance of being accepted into the accelerated program. Otherwise, their nursing program is 3 years...all of the professors and clinical staff there are GREAT!!!

I live in South Georgia and I have found that starting wage for a new grad is about 18$ an hour at the big hospital. Night shift is 5$ more per hour and weekends is 2.50 extra per hour. It goes up if you have experience. I find this pretty good considering the cost of living here is pretty cheap.Food and Gas is cheapest here ( if you know where to go) and You can find a decent size new house for under 150,000 in good neighborhoods. As usual, prices go up for better locations. :D I am about to graduate and so we have recruiters coming into class pretty regularly. If you are big into night life don't bother coming. LOL I am married so it doesn't matter to me, but there isn't much else down here in the Albany area if you are into the party atmosphere. The city is about 100000 people but there are tons of small towns circulating around it within a 60 mile radius. That is why the main hospital here is so big. The main drawback I can say is that there is little to do if you are single. :uhoh3:

try to goggle wellstar health systems it is a hospital in cobb countyand they also have primary care offices. plus they hire alot. i hope you to come to the A....lol

i also moved her with to small kids form NYC
