I know it is still early, but thought it would be nice to start a new thread for the Fall 2013 ASN students on here. Which campus you will be attending and where you are commuting from? I will be at the Gainesville campus and live in Jasper.

I will be attending the Cumming/Forsyth campus and commuting from Johns Creek.

Have you ordered your uniform? What abt the other stuff like stethoscope, books, etc?

I ordered mine last Tuesday. I was told not to worry about a stethoscope until orientation. Apparently we will be able to buy things on that day. I may get my books in July when additional ones are released.

Have you take classes at UNG before or are you a transfer student?

I will be a transfer student.

Really excited to finally be in nursing school. I applied last year and was wait listed that year and this year but received an acceptance letter on June 3!

I ordered my uniform but haven't gotten them yet, and I'm actually going to order my stethoscope online so I can get mine engraved. I've been harrassing the bookstore for when the books are in, I spoke to someone last week who says he keeps getting calls that they have them, but he says they don't yet.

This will be my first semester at UNG, I am a transfer student ~ from KSU, I have all my core for my BSN.

I got my letter on February 14th, my youngest daughter had broken her leg very badly a few weeks earlier and I had been so preoccupied with taking care of her I hadn't even expected letters until much later. I had only applied to UNG and KSU, I was having an exceptionally emotional day with her. When I got the mail that day and saw the envelope I didn't really think to much about it, when I opened it and read the first 2 sentences I started just started crying. My mother in law had come from MA to help with my daughter and came running not knowing what was going on, it was the best feeling!

That's a good idea about the stethoscope! I've been told that ppl walk off with your stethoscope. I wonder if they still will with it engraved? Lol

Well let us all know when they come in or if you get more information on when they will be in. That would be helpful.

I knew when I opened my mailbox what was in the brown envelope without even looking. It was then confirmed when I saw the return address from UNG. I ran to my house and call my mom immediately. I didn't even know what campus I was going to! I was so excited that it finally came.

I have 1 seven year old son. I want more children but may have to wait till after we graduate. My name is Marnique but my friends call me Nikki. Hello Damari!

I ordered the uniform but haven't gotten it yet. I was told by a friend at KSU that the bottoms run large, and the tops run small. It looks like from the website at Meridys that there is one free exchange, after that you pay shipping charges. My name is Julie btw.

Hi Julie! I live in Johns Creek as well. I'll be at the Forsyth Campus too. I think I will need one or two more classes core classes for my BSN. Not sure yet bc I have a BS in Biology. I will know once I met with my advisor.

Well darn. I ordered backwards. Lol. I got a M in pants (the drawstring ones-they are suppose to be for men&women) and a S in all the tops! I probably will be the one who has to return mine. Hopefully they come soon and will give me enough time to exchange them.

I just graduated from UNG in May. I had to do a return on my uniform (both pants and tops) and had to pay shipping for the return. I'm not sure if they changed that in the 2 years since I ordered mine but just wanted to share that.

I've never had anyone walk off with my stethoscope but if someone did, by you having it personalized/engraved or someway identifying it as yours, it would be easier to get it back if you can point out that it's yours.

I took classes this year on the 400 campus and really liked it there.

I think it's an excellent idea. And I will look into doing so.

Is the Cumming campus fairly new?

I just received an email stating that my uniforms were shipped today!! This should give me enough time to exchange them if need be. That's a relief!

You don't have to wear your uniforms to class, just to clinical. My first year of school, we had about 7 weeks of clinical and started about half-way through the first semester. Last year, they changed it so the students did all of their check-off first semester and only did a few weeks of clinical. We did our med check-off 2nd semester, so weren't able to pass meds until then and spent the first semester basically doing tech work. I think that you all will be fine, unless they've changed things around again, as you shouldn't need to wear your uniforms until later in the first semester. You should have plenty of time to return them if you need to. They do have pretty quick turn around, as I had to return mine.

The Cumming campus was brand new last year. It's a beautiful facility, though not very big. The nursing department has 2 rooms, a classroom and a lab room. There is a computer lab where you can print all of your power points, which is good because you print a TON during nursing school. There's no charge for printing things, either, which is nice. You don't have the college atmosphere like you would at Dahlonega and to a certain extent, at Gainesville and you might miss that. I'm a single mom and was working full-time, so I went to class and then went home and didn't need or miss any of the typical college stuff, like dorms, eating at the school, activities, etc. It's definitely a commuter campus but they have a little food place that sells limited foods, coffee, snacks, etc. You can microwave food if you want to. I always brought food with me and ate during lectures, brought drinks, etc.

Ask any questions that you might have, as I don't mind answering them. It's an exciting time for you all but also very nerve-wracking and I remember it well!

Hi! My name is Bethany and am 22 years old. Born in Tallahassee,but raised in Sweden. I live in Suwanee as of 2011 and will be attending the Gainesville campus. I am a transfer student; I attended Georgia State for over 4 years working on my core for their accelerated BSN program while working a lot. I have completed their core, but have a couple core to take at UNG.

Hobbies and interests include video-editing, music-making (I sing and play piano... And TRY to play guitar with my little hands that don't quite do the trick, lol), traveling, learning languages, trying exotic food, and other things that I will have to put on hold while in the nursing program, but that is completely fine with me!!! :) ;) Two of my other great interests are helping people and learning how things WORK, especially the body! It's very fascinating!

UNG is the only school I applied to as I want to keep living up here if possible (It's so pretty up here -- reminds me of Scandinavia!), but received a letter in March stating that I was placed on the wait list. I knew there was possibly a teeny tiny chance I'd get lucky, and I really hoped I would, but after receiving the letter I tried to come up with other plans... More difficult and tedious plans... Very uncertain plans too... I kept telling myself that if I got into UNG it'd be a miracle and the best possible thing that could happen. It would solve all of my problems and put a halt to my uncertain plans and allow me to see the light at the end of the tunnel after attending school for close to 5 years. I kept checking my mail and phone in hopes of receiving good news, and then finally a week or so ago, I saw a missed call from Dahlonega while I was at work and immediately called the number back using the work phone... And the rest is history. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been given this opportunity, and I can't wait to meet you all! :)
