So I am trying to get into gwinnett techs fall of 2013 class and i just wanted to start a forum for us to support each other and for info. I still have a couple pre reqs to take but im hoping to do well! Good luck everyone

We should come up with a little identifying something-or-other for the meeting. A blank yellow (for AN) Post-It on our shirts or something.

R u guys preparing for the entrance exam? I mean did you find any good book to prepare for the Writing, and the Reading part? In addition, how do you feel about the Science part?

Hi. I know the meeting is Wednesday and we will know more information at that time..I was just curious are the tests going to start next week? In the letter it said the sessions start first week of March. Do you think we will be signing up on Wed?

Last time I visited Saadia Jackson, she said they hadn't worked that out yet. Hopefully they've got it figure out, but as of two days before the letters went it, they weren't sure how sign ups for the Kaplan were going to work. She did say this year would be different from any other year, whatever that means.

Nervous about science. I don't think there's any book out there that would truly help you prepare, since there isn't a book for this particular exam. I've heard the reading part is similar to what's in the Kaplan book, though (read the passage, answer the questions), and the writing is "correct the sentence/paragraph" type of stuff. I'm mostly concentrating on the science by reviewing A&P II physiology, since that's been mentioned here on AN in the past.

blessed I'm sorry for asking so many questions but do they still do interviews? I have seen that they invite people to do an interview after they take the Kaplan but have never seen anyone talking about how the interview was. Just wondering if they still do it. Thanks!

It's totally fine aalewine. You can ask me questions anytime. They said at last year's meeting that they would'nt conduct anymore interviews so as of last year interviews were not conducted. I don't know if that's going to change for this year but I very much doubt it.

I'm really thankful for your insight. reading and writing are:"Ma bete noire" or my bugbear. Can you please suggest any resources to go through these subjects? Merci!

@ Laatra: wish I knew exactly what to tell you but if you want to meet at some point over this weekend, I can point out a couple of areas that I still remember. I live in Lilburn. Trust me you don't really need to prepare for the reading and comprehension because it was very easy. The math was very easy too but you need to revisit the basics of PEDMAS. The A&P was very unpredictable. All the questions came from physiology. One or two were common sense but the rest were very specific either you knew it or you didn't. For students that took their A&P in other colleges and had to use the entire book there won't be a lot of surprises but if you took your A&P in Gwinnett you will need to read a little bit more than the study guide . The writing was tough. I've always done better in writing than all other courses but this took me a little by surprise. But in all it wasn't that bad at all.

As far as the exam dates, we had to sign up a day after the meeting. I remember going there two days later only to find out all the later days were taken. My date was the 11th. If that is going to change for this year I wonder how they're going to set that up. Who knows they might go by the first letter of our last names...Lol. The fee for the exam was $40.

Since I have a Humanities midterm and a pathophys exam this week, I'm not even thinking about the Kaplan at this moment. I remember dreaming about A&P when I was taking both I and II, though. It was unnerving. :geek:

As for what I'll be wearing, honestly, I'll just be glad if it's clean. Lots of stress right now!
