RN - Relocating to Douglasville Ga

  1. Hello! All,
I will be relocating to Douglasville in a couple months and I am wondering what hospitals are in the area. I am aware of Wellstar douglasville, but was wondering how many others are in the area. I am also wondering which ones are considered "too far". Can anyone tell me what are some of the better paying nursing jobs in the area. I am not to keen on sitting in traffic, unless the $ is worth it, lol.

    Thanks!

There are others in the area, but I am biased because I work for Wellstar (Cobb Hospital). Another hospital in your area is Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. Other hospitals in the area include Northside Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Piedmont Hospital, Crawford Long Hospital, and Grady Hospital. I cannot guarentee there won't be any traffic if you work at either of those hospitals. As far as pay, I'm not sure what they start their experienced nurses with.
    Hope this helps.

Welcome... almost. I live in Villa Rica, which is right next to Douglasville. I am partial to Tanner Villa Rica because I used to work there in the ICU. I just graduated nursing school with my BSN, have cancer right now and can't work but when I am healthy enough I have something lined up at St. Joseph's in Atlanta. It is 50 miles door to door, but they are a Magnet hospital and nurses are treated VERY well. I am really excited to go there, even though the drive is long. I have done clinicals in med-surg at Wellstar Douglas and don't care for it at all. I don't like the team nursing. I prefer primary nursing, which is how it is at Tanner Villa Rica. I also worked at Grady as a paramedic for 7 years and that is another downtown Atlanta option if you don't mind a drive and don't mind nurses not being treated very well but paid extremely well (to my standards). Hope this all helps.
