Has anyone been accepted into an ADN program, failed, then decided to switch to an LPN program?

Currently an LPN wanting to bridge over to RN. I've applied to Darton College in Albany, hope to get accepted for this fall. Did the LPN program at West Georgia Technical College. Great program, passed NCLEX-PN first try! What school are you looking at for LPN? Maybe you should try another ADN program at another school.

Hi there,

Thank you first for replying. I know I should try another program but this is my issue. I am a hands on learner. I was still memorizing instead of learning when I was at Darton. I knew I could have made it and I am not shifting blame, but I have realized that I cannot help anyone in nursing school but myself. I have to want it bad enough. I want to know the "how-to" instead of the "why." I know I can become a nurse but I need the basic skills first, get a job, then bridge over after I have had some experience. I am looking at Albany Technical college because there NCLEX-PN rate is 96%. Would you please share your LPN school experiences?

Did you get accepted? Trying to get into the LPN to RN bridge in Sandersville.

Sorry that was @ nyrvab : )

@ southbeach23...The LPN program definitely wasn't a walk in the park. You are taught the same basic nursing skills that you'd learn in an RN program. In the RN program you are also taught more of the "leadership" side of nursing. If I not mistaken, I believe at West Georgia Tech the LPN students had more clinical hours than the RN students did. In my opinion you should try another RN program because as an LPN you are limited to where you can work, there is minimal chance for advancement, and you get paid less to do the same job as an RN. Nursing school is Nursing school, there is no easy way around it.

@ elllabug101...I will be taking the teas next week. I think Darton will send out acceptance or denial letters by mid August. Did you apply for the fall 2013 bridge program? If so, how long will your commute be if you're accepted? I'll have to travel 2 1/2 hours each way!!

@ nyrvab...I applied for the fall 2013 bridge program in Sandersville. I will be traveling one hour each way. I live in Vidalia, Ga. I was thinking the last day of testing is tomorrow. What day do you take it on? I made an 80% overall. The mean for the program said 64.9% and national mean was 64.3%. Math brought my score down. I was surprised because I thought I knew the math. I studied the ATI book and did a lot of practice tests. Keep me updated with your progress : )

@ellabug101...I decided not to continue the admission process for the fall @ darton. I would have to commute 2 and half hours one way, from Fairburn, GA!! I plan on applying in the spring @ West Georgia Tech, its closer. Good luck to you!!!! keep me posted.

Good luck to you too! That would definitely be a difficult commute. I will post my acceptance or denial. Hopefully...acceptance!

I got accepted to Darton :)

How many semesters is the bridge program?
