Rn License Compact

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Does anyone know if Florida and Georgia has the same standards or are in the same compact when it comes to the RN license? Is was thinking about moving to georgia after I graduate. The thing is that i live in Florida right now, and I was wondering how I should go about obtaining my RN license. Should I take the NCLEX in Florida or Georga? Thank you.

It would probably be easier for you to board in GA. It took forever to have GA endorse me from FL, they "lost" my passport pic with my application, didn't notify me until I e-d them about why it was taking sooooo long.

I moved to Atlanta from Florida after I graduated. I took the Florida boards in Georgia and then applied for endorsement. I received endorsement in 2 weeks, with no problems.

Goodluck!

The above link would not let me edit anything, so it came out a little funky. I am a travel nurse and have had to obtain licensure in multiple states who were not members of the compact. My home state is a compact state so it does help me a lot. It varies from state to state as to how many hoops you have to jump thru to get licence. Walk thru states are the easiest, as you take your documentation, and get a temp licence right away. Some take more time and energy. Since the NCLEX is a national test, it really doesn't matter where you take it, the results are the same. But if knew I would be living in a particular state, I think I would take it there. I took them 30+ years ago, so everything has changed a LOT since then! Check with each board of nursing for details. It is not something you want to have them mess up!
