Hi,

I am new grad ADN. I will apply ga state for my license due I got job in there. I am worry that how long will it take me to sit nclex. My job starts January 26.

Specializes in NICU.

It took me 5 weeks from graduation (August) to first available test date (September) I live in Indiana not Ga. and August was slow time for graduates as compared to the number of Dec. grads that the BON needs to process. I think that you will be pushing it pretty close. You need to talk to the employer just in case your first available test date is after the start date.

Thy told me that I can start orientation w/o license but I will get less money. I read GA BON website. So beside fingerprint , we just need official transcript with graduation date on and major? I'd appreciate if you let me know the docs u sent. I hope my school will process my graduation asap so I can obtain transcript

The documents that are required vary between states. You need to check to see what they require on their website. If you have accepted a job in Ga. then do not get your NY license first. It will take another 3-4 weeks after you get your NY license to get a Ga. license by endorsement.

Some people recently posted that it took a week endorsement. Today I spoke w my school and they pushing me to take nys license first. I guess it's all politic. I hate it. I asked her to give my transcript with state

My degree and graduate date and she said I have to sign paper that if I can't get my Georgia license in short time , they won't be responsible. I said ok. Than she said she has to think about it. This driving me crazy.

Who is this "she" you're mentioning? If you are asking for an official copy of your transcripts, there is nothing for them to think about. Your school shouldn't be concerned with where you take your NCLEX (except, of course, as to how it affects their NCLEX pass rates). As long as your program is an approved and accredited program that Georgia will recognize and you know you'll be working in Georgia very soon, the shortest pathway for you is to apply for licensure by examination with the Georgia BON. This is assuming you pass your boards on the first try, of course.

She is "nursing chairperson" they technically thinking if I take in nys it will be good For school .. My school has accreditation. She make me feel like if I don't take in nys firs, she will make it for me harder !! That's **** me off.

She can take the test in whatever state she wants. She can take the test in NY. and apply for a Ga. license. NCLEX is a national exam. Whether she is applying for a license in NY or Ga., it is the same test and the same results. Nothing would be different for the NCLEX pass rate for the school. They may not like the fact that she is leaving the state for a job, but many new grads have to (including me. I am moving from Indiana to Ky.) to find a job.
