Nursing Schools

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I recently moved from Virginia to Georgia, about 45 mins north of Atlanta and I am having a hard time finding ADN programs. I don't know anyone so its hard to find out what school I should look into and what school to stay away from. I looked into one this past week but it is not accredited and that scares me a little. I want to find a school that I will be able to get my BSN and so on and I know with a non accredited school that can be tricky. Well that's how it is in Virginia maybe its different here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi HeatherH0329

I haven't gotten used to GA's geography yet so as far as location I'm sorry if my answer doesn't help you so much! Georgia Perimeter College, Georgia Highlands and Gwinnett Technical College are all accredited ADN programs.

You can also go to Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing to find accredited programs and go to GA Board of Nursing website to find out NCLEX pass rates.

You may have to drive a little but if its 30 min - 1 hour you'll come to realize that's not too far in this state. Traffic would be the only hiccup depending on where you are going though. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much!! This gives me a place to start. I have only been here for a month so I'm still learning my way around. The traffic is DEF something I have to get used to. Where I came from 25 miles took 20 mins...here 25 miles takes an hour. But anyways thank you again!!

I'm not sure your exact location, but I used to live in the cartersville area and I went to both highlands and also Georgia northwestern technical college. I know both have accredited programs. Highlands program is in Rome, Georgia. And GNTC's program is in rock springs.

I hope this helps and best of luck to you!

Athens Tech is also an accredited ADN program in North Georgia.

Good luck!

Please keep in mind that approval to operate from BON(link provided above) does not necessarily mean the school has national accreditation. After reviewing the schools approved by the BON you should review the ACEN (formerly the NLNAC) at Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) at American Association of Colleges of Nursing | CCNE Accreditation.
