If you are currently licensed in the State of California then you should apply to Georgia for licensure by endorsement.

    Hi All,

I have a couple questions about RN licensure by endorsement, too. I currently live and am licensed in VA and have applied for a job as a new grad nurse at a hospital in GA. The hospital indicated I need to have a GA license before they'll make me an offer.

I found the link (thanks) for the application to get my license endorsed into GA. But the instructions indicate I also need fingerprints and a background check by a company that runs the GAPS system. I'm not clear how I can do that, living outside the state at the moment. Would I have to fly/drive to somewhere in GA to go to a GAPS site for this stuff?

I'm not sure I want to go to that effort and cost when I don't even have a job offer yet in GA.

you may visit the georgia board of nursing's website at www.sos.ga.gov/plb/rn, click on "application downloads" and choose instructions for out of state applicant fingerprint background check. this will provide clear information regarding the necessary steps to obtain a background check without traveling to the state of georgia.

great, thanks for the heads up! too bad ga is not part of the nursing licensure compact. that would make things a lot easier for many of us out-of-staters.

hello, I just printed out al 14 pages of application forms. I'm a bit overwhelmed because I have no idea where to start. What forms did you submit first? I'm afraid if I send my application before I my employers signs and sends verification of employment form or if board of nursing from TN sends verification of original license, register for background check exc that they will deny my application. But I'm also afraid that if I get those documents sent before I send my application that they won't know what to do with it.
    Am I making any sense?
So what forms did you send first?

    My GA RN Endorsement timeline:

I mailed off my application on Feb. 22, 2012 via UPS certified mail. It was received at the GBON office on Feb 24, 2012. My application was logged into the online system on Feb. 27, 2012. And today, Mar. 1, 2012, I received an email by GBON that my licensed was approved along with my license number. Now Im just waiting on my paper license to be mailed out. :spin:

Suprisingly it only took them 9 days from the day they received my application and all supporting documents to the day they issued me a license. I was shocked. I was expecting the wait to be 4-6 weeks.

hello everyone ! just wanted to give a ray of hope for all of you waiting for your ga rn licensure by endorsement from a different state. i sent my application july 30th, it was received in the ga bon office august 1st. my license was in the ga bon database today, august 9th. so it took about a week for everything to be processed by the board of nursing. the key to quick processing: getting your fingerprints done early; making sure your application is organized and contains all necessary documents.

    god bless !

things must be changing in the right direction! my application was perfectly organized, my fingerprints were done early, and they sat on my app forever. that was over a year ago, so i am glad things seem to have improved.
