Kennesaw Spring 2013 applicants

U.S.A. Georgia

It seems way early to be posting this, but the application deadline actually isn't too far away. Is anyone else applying to KSU for spring 2013 admission? I've requested to be considered for the traditional and accelerated programs. Took the TEAS this morning, but I'm still finishing this semester's prerequisites, so I don't know what GPA I'll be competing with yet. Would love to connect with anyone else who's applying!

Best of luck, all!

Andrea, I can't do M-F either, so maybe I can do the Oct. 20th class with you!

Btw KSU Nursing Hopefuls, I emailed Sandi a bit ago and bothered her and this is what she said:

"I'm hoping we'll get the letters out sometime by the week of Oct 8, but can't guarantee it. We have a Career Fair on Oct 1st that we're having to prepare for also and there are only so many hours in a day. We're doing our best!! Take care - "

That's just a little more than two weeks....Not so bad!!!

Ok, sorry to blow up this board, but I was just checking out the aha website and saw that they offer an online BLS for healthcare providers online course for $22. They said it's about two hours. Not bad and cheaper than the actual class. Maybe good for those who can't get away from work or are on a budget???

Hey y'all- once you are accepted, you will get a list of instructors that have CPR classes in the area if you want to wait to sign up for one of those classes instead. I heard they are all really good and I think some may even be clinical instructors that you may have at some point during the program.

@triciah, I would check to make sure the online class is acceptable. I don't think it would be a problem but I would just double check since they are pretty specific about requirements.

I know it is a bit too early to even think about this, but I will probably be commuting to class from Lawrenceville, so if there is anyone in the surrounding area that is thinking about doing the same, please contact me on here. Also, if anyone has any advice about commuting (like is it even a good idea), please share :). Thanks a lot!

Hi mhuskic,

I'm in Norcross, i'll be glad to do a ride share. Like you said it might be too early, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.

i feel like I have been waiting for a month to find out, and it has only been two days that they have probably actually only been working on it for two days lol. Oh goodness, heres to finding out sooner than later.

I agree, the wait does feel like it is taking forever! I am still attempting to find something to take my mind off of waiting, but I am not having any luck. On the bright side, at least it is only 2-4 weeks of waiting this time around...:whistling:

It might be nice to look through the book calculate with confidence...i was reading the previous ksu posts, and they mentioned it on there. I'm not sure if it'll help or not. I also found some questions from the book on quizzlet

Starting to look through the calculate with confidence book wouldn't be a bad idea. You can buy the previous edition of the new book on amazon for pretty cheap. You'll have a dosage calculation test within the first few weeks of school and you HAVE to make a 90 or above to stay in the class (don't worry, its pretty easy and you get 2 chances)

Don't spend hours on the Calculate with Confidence book, or even working through every page or every chapter. Just try to understand the concept of dosage calculations and try to work through some examples. The conversions (and rounding rules...which you will learn once you have the lecture) are the most important things to know. The math is simple. The lecture they do in class the week before the test teaches you everything you need to know about how to solve the problems.

About commuting- we know a girl that is so happy she decided not to commute. Her drive was going to be over an hour. Living close allows you the opportunity to study with others, which is extremely beneficial. If you are okay with staying after class and studying with people on campus before you make the long drive back, you might could make it work. You'll only be driving to campus probably 3 days a week.
