HELP!!! Online or Classroom...GPC or Gwinnett Tech for A&P

U.S.A. Georgia

Hi All!

Has anyone taken A&PI at Georgia Perimeter College or Gwinnett Tech? If so, did you take it online or in the classroom and how did you feel about it? What would you recommend or what would you do if you could take the course again?

I really need your feedback so thanks in advance!!!

Took it at GPC on campus and wouldn't have done it online. That class is very important and I wouldn't chance it online. I take everything else online tho. My teacher was incredible and I took her again for 2. Highly recommended.

A&P is a lab course, and some nursing schools in Georgia will not accept online lab courses. I would take it in the classroom setting just to be safe.

Thanks for your feedback guys!!! I am starting to lean towards the in class option but I still haven't figured out which school. I've read other forums that people who did it online that said they wouldn't do it that way if they had a second chance. Some people also said they did great. I need an A in that class which why I'm hesitant.

Bravera, you're absolutely right but I did look into that and transferrability. All is good since the lab portion is a separate class and is actually on site.

I wonder if anyone has taken it in class at GTC?

Only you know your studying habits. Yes getting an A is the goal but you also want to be sure you're actually learning and retaining the info. You will draw on this material for the rest of your career as a nurse...

Very true. I've actually taken the course before so I'm pretty familiar w/ the content even though its been awhile. I just have to retake it because of the 5 year deadline. For the school I want to get into next year I definitely need an A so I'm being pretty hard on myself. Retention is key and I think for me to achieve that score I would definitely need to learn the content. I did prefer A&P II over I but oh well.

Crazy u say that bc during A&P 2 I SWORE I preferred 1 but now that I look back on it 2 was much more interesting. I found 2 MUCH harder as well :-/ you WILL get an A! Just make sure u research the teacher on rate my professor first. Only sign up for the one with excellent reviews wether it's for online or for the classroom setting. I totally understand about the deadline. I had to retake all my sciences as well.

I took both my a&p's lectures online at gpc. The lab is in person. Would highly recommend it. Check to see if the schools your are interested in take the online credit. Still learned a&p. just did not have someone reading a PowerPoint to me. I read them myself. And studied and did other work. Loved it. Lab, have to go to campus. Especially if you are just retaking it. Online I'd your school accepts the credit.

Thankfully I didn't have a teacher just reading me a PowerPoint for Anatomy. Although I do have that happening right now in Micro and I do wish I had taken this particular class online.

Runsalot: what was the online class like? Did you have to participate in a discussion board? Weekly quizzes?

I would only need it to transfer to gwinett tech college. Maybe I can call Monday.

Nurse2B2016 thanks for your suggestion. I completely forget about ratemyprofessor. I definitely need to that. And yea ap2 was harder but because it was more real world and interesting i felt better about the course

Uhggh. I still don't know which school to choose.

That online option is lookig good again to me but I don't want to make the wrong decision

It all depends on how disciplined you are and how adept you are at teaching yourself the material. Since you have already had A&P, I don't think taking it online is a bad choice. I would make sure you get a good professor though. A friend of mine in A&P 2 was telling me how she took the first part online and had to drop it because the teacher had crazy unreasonable expectations, like involved group projects every week, and tests that seemed to have been for an entirely different course. If your goal is to get an A, you don't want to take a professor that makes it more trying than it needs to be as A&P is a difficult class with even the best professor. I took both of mine on campus, and would not want to have taken it online. My teachers actually taught the class and challenged us to think critically vs just reading a powerpoint though. I definitely would not have received the same education online in the case of these 2 classes, but your mileage may vary. If you are already very solid on the material, online may be your better bet. As far as I know, both GTC and GPC courses will transfer to any USG school.

Took two different teachers. One had us do lots of work using a program call mastering a&p. the other case studies. Both were fine. I took micro on campus. Learned similar amounts of material.
